Emmel Tonkinese

Colours and Coat Patterns

(Chocolate mink, Lilac solid and Seal colourpoint)

Tonkinese come in the four basic colours of Seal (Brown, Natural), Chocolate (Champagne), Blue and Lilac (Platinum). Because the first generation Tonkinese were a cross between the Siamese and the Burmese, when we mateMink to Mink we not only get the incomplete dominance of their coat genes to create the Mink pattern, but we can also get the Colourpoint (Siamese coat pattern) and the Solid (Burmese coate pattern).

The eye colour for each coat pattern is different as well. Colourpoints will have a blue eye colour, Minks will have the distinctive aqua-marine colour and Solids will have a yellowy-green colour
