Statistical Methods in Medical Research
The first edition of this book was published in 1971 by Professor Peter Armitage. For the fourth edition a third coauthor, Professor John Matthews of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, joined the team and this enabled the book to be extended to cover

Bayesian methods in more detail
Permutation, Monte Carlo tests, the bootstrap and jackknife
Non-parametric and non-linear regression
Multilevel models
A fuller coverage of organizational and statistical issues in clinical trials
