I have done time with psychiatrists for some forty years
I have given them a lot of money
They love me -
And not for my good looks!

Many psychiatrists look at their watch
Many talk about politics
Many talk about sport -
Are they bored with their work?

I told my doctor that people sometimes manipulate me
He said that I'm paranoid;
When I was a young I sometimes manipulated others
He told me that's realistic!

Sometimes the psychiatrists tell me damaging things
Like recommending the replacement of an old but effective drug
Or stating that I was not injured by my parents and sibling -
They want to avoid being sued!

A friend visited one
There was a joke book in the waiting-room
The friend had a good laugh -
She wanted to go home.

Psychiatrists are bright people
Why did they study their trade?
Did they want to fix their own maladjustment to life?
Was their career a secondary issue?

A poet once said:
"Neurotics build castles in the sky;
Psychotics live in them;
And doctors collect the rent."

Psychiatrists are business people
They want to make money
They want to raise their families -
They don't want my friendship!
