Sad News !!!
Sadly, Juney is no longer with us.
After her long fight with kidney disease, and partial recovery,
cancer finally took her from us.
The onset of the cancer was very fast, and although
everything possible was done to try and pull her through this one,
Juney finally gave up on the 25th February, 2004.
Her absence will remind us that this was one hell of a
greyhound. Her determination and her will to please
will stay in our hearts forever.
She has left us with a legacy of 3 beautiful black pups,
who, I am sure, will do their mother proud.
What A Story !!!
June belongs to a dear friend of ours - who is responsible for introducing
us to greyhounds - but she is considered one of the family.
Her mother is Kissy Bear - who is also the mother of Bearability, Chief Wigam,
Swift Paws and Kissy's Babe.
She is a litter sister to Foxborough, Honcho Bear, Head Bear and
Head Direct (who is the dam of the current promising pup Cool Kissy.)
It is hoped in the future that June will be well enough to have her own litter
of puppies.
June is a young retired racing Greyhound. Because of her brilliant
breeding she was being prepared to become a brood bitch -
until Christmas 2000.
June was admitted to the Vet Hospital with kidney failure.
She was worked on and observed around the clock by vets for 4 weeks.
At the end of this time her condition had still not shown enough
improvement to indicated that she would pull through.
It was becoming a fruitless effort.
Faced with the choice of having her put down or bringing her home to try
other alternatives, it was decided to bring her home and try herbal remedies.
The herbal remedies pulled her through. Thanks to Robert McDowell
Even though she was looking good and all outward signs indicated that she
was quite healthy, the kidneys were still in very bad condition.
June has now had acupuncture implants done throughout her body.
Now only time will tell if the kidneys will ever return to a near normal function.
Shear determination has kept this young lady with us.
