Nitro was our first venture into greyhound racing.
He was a scrawny red fawn & white 4 month old pup,
who slept with his head on my lap all the way from the breeders
farm to the rearing farm.
Nitro never made the race track - at 7 months of age he had an
accident in the paddock - broke his hip - and would never race.
But I believe that everything happens for a reason.
Nitro is one of the most important things in our lives now,
and yes, he is spoilt rotten.
The bond that he has made with the family is impenetrable
and we love him very much.
Vanilla, Feebie and June are all very, very special as well - but
who could forget who started it all.
It is a shame that some people will never get to experience the
companionship of a Greyhound.
Just like us in the beginning, most people do not think of a Greyhound as a Pet.
I used to have the opinion that they were purely and solely used for
racing and nothing else, and because they had to wear a muzzle,
I thought they must have been quite aggressive.
We always referred to them as those skinny dogs,
who looked as though they needed a decent feed.
Well wasn't I wrong this time!!
