William Bain
(1715 - ?)
William was
born in Longniddry, Tranent, East Lothian (then Haddingtonshire)
in abt 1715. He was the first recorded child and eldest son of Thomas
Bane (Bain) and Jean Brown.
William married
Katherine Watson in about 1745, no records have
been found of the marriage. Little is known of Katherine Watson,
two potential birth records have been found - 12 Oct 1718 in Prestonpans,
East Lothian, daughter of James Watson and Isabel Archibald
OR 12 Oct 1718 in Gladsmuir, East Lothian, daughter of James
Watson and Agnes Heron.
William and
Katherine produced had at least four children between 1746 and 1762,
however it is highly likely there were other children:

William and
Katherine were obviously comfortable, because at least one of their
children recieved a university education. William's father Thomas
died at the end of 1772, and his son James passed away in early
1776. He was a witness at the baptism of his grandson James Bain
Jr in 1776.
Williams date
of death is unknown.
