John Hardie
was born in 1665 in Alloa, Clackmannan to Robert
Hardie and Marion Campbell. He was christened on 22 February
1665.
Records relating
to John are rather ambiguous, however it appears that John first
married Margaret Dewar on 10 June 1687 in Clackmannan Parish,
Clackmannan.

There is no
information available about the end of their marriage, but it is
assumed that Margaret Dewar Hardie died sometime between 1694 and
1698 because on 22 January 1698 John Hardie married Isobell Ferguson
in St. Ninians Parish, Stirling. John Hardie and Isobell Ferguson
