HighRidge Coffee is situated in Montmorency, North East of Melbourne.  We are a home based business, using a classic `Has Garanti' roaster....

Fresh Coffee

When you buy coffee from the supermarket, or your local coffee outlet, is it fresh?  Well...probably not!  Not unless they are roasting on site.  The coffee may taste ok, but by the time you get it into your coffee pot or espresso machine it has lost a lot of its freshness and flavour.... After green coffee beans have been roasted, they contain gas, in the form of carbon dioxide (the gas we all breathe out!).  As the beans lose their gas, they also lose their flavour.  For this reason, vacuum sealing is not effective, as the coffee needs to release its gas.  Highridge Coffee supply coffee in bags with an inbuilt `one way valve', to allow the coffee to release gas, but not allow oxygen into the bag which causes the coffee to go stale.

Because HighRidge Coffee uses a smaller roaster, we are able to roast in small batches, `on demand'...In this way, your coffee will be fresh from the roaster, and you will be experiencing something new...fresh coffee!

You will be surprised at the taste of truly fresh roasted coffee...you will experience flavours you never noticed before...these are the flavours that died while your previous coffee sat on a supermarket shelf, or in a plastic display cabinet at your local coffee outlet. The coffee will be richer, with more body, and if you enjoy your coffee espresso,  you will notice a lot more crema in the cup.  This is because the fresh coffee's natural oils are still intact.

Once you have experienced the taste of fresh coffee, you would find it hard to go back to drinking stale coffee.  After all, when you shop for groceries, you wouldn't buy stale fruit and vegetables....so why should you pay a lot of money for stale coffee?  In fairness to your local supermarket or coffee outlet, the coffee is only stale because of the time involved in having the coffee roasted at a large commercial plant, packaging, warehousing and delivering to the retail outlet.  After coffee beans are roasted, they only last a month or two before they become seriously stale, and once the coffee beans are ground, then they are only fresh for a week or two.  For this reason, if you are buying ground coffee, you should buy it in small quantities, (250g, rather than 1 kg for example), and store it in a cool, dry place in your kitchen.  With roasted beans, you can buy larger quantities (1 kg) and be assured of their freshness, provided you store them in a cool, dry area.

Quality

There is a lot of poor quality coffee on the market...a lot of it ends up in some well known commercial blends, and in instant coffee.  Highridge Coffee only roasts coffee beans provided by reputable coffee merchants, whose buyers travel the world, testing and buying the best coffee available.  We guarantee the quality of our coffee....
