Luke Hough

Interviewed on 13/4/06

date of birth:  27/09/1984

highest break:  In comp 85

When did you start playing snooker?  at the age of 10, first picked up a cue though when I was 5 in some pool hall in Wollongong

Which club do you play at the most and which one is your favourite?  Mountie's Now, its pretty good there they look after you, not like my old club they didn't care about us and even when won the comp..

Do you have a coach?  No  Who?

Who do you practice with?  Starting to practice with Vinnie, Usually Serke Ivachev, Hassan Kerdie and now and again Johnny Bermudez Do you learn much from them?  Serke I learn how to drink hahaha joke.... But no serious... I don't really learn anything by watching them..... I learn by asking them when im on a shot and im abit stuck

You went to the world under 21's, how was that? AWESOME!!! Except for the heat!!!  Was it a good experience?  Yeah great experience I had alot of fun...... Met Michael white and he showed me how to knock in a 147 4 times in 10 frames hehe.... Also the country was great how they treated us...... Anything we wanted we got.......

 Now onto the serious stuff...

Are Victorians better snooker players than New south welshmen?  I would have to say by looking at the top 16 in Australia Yes the Vic boys do.... But that's all they do, play snooker... Up here we work for a living haha

On the snooker forum you and Dallas Hershal are always picking on each other, why's that?  Because we are both smart alecks and I always have ago at him because he thinks he is god's next best thing, Dallas brags too much about himself but doesn't do the talking on the table, But really he is a great guy but a big smart aleck! here

Why do you go for suicidal shots?  haha, Good question. No one has really asked me why do I do it, they just tell me not to do it. I grew up with my dad smashing in all these long ones everyday! So really I don't know better, its just a habit, I like getting those long hard shots in to show people what I can actually do, but then when it comes down the break building I just cant do it, my cueing slows right down and im not consistent.

Goals for 2006?  Win the top 32 at the end of the year in the minor grade comps, Trying to see if I can get in at least the top 32 in Australian rankings. Do at least 3 hours practice a day

Advice for new players?  If you want to be a good player practice, but play alot of match play. Find a good coach and listen to what they have to say. Most of all, Get your career on track first because you can not live off snooker in Australia.

Anything else you want to say?  Everyone asks Luke why don't  you win comps. A: I play for the love of the game and its fun, B: I don't practice as much as I would like to. C: I cant help but go for the big shots and if I miss I get punished. Thank-you.

Thanks for your time superstar! Good luck for the rest of the season and win some more matches especially against Dallas eh?
