HM 30 Mill Drill Pg 2

I bought a stand as well, it was also on special.

Here's all the bits out of the little wooden box. The tilting vice is put together very sloppily, I nearly tossed it in the rubbish bin, but ended up keeping it. Fixing the vice was the first job I did on my mill/drill, the number of hours I put into it, yikes, but that's another story, and I havn't fully finished it yet, have to make some new jaws and just finish off.

I decided to put 4 screws in the tray of the stand so it stays in place when I lower the mill drill down on it.

Here I've put some Silicone gasket sealant around the screw holes and the bolt holes.

I've Siliconed the screws and also the grommets that fill the unused bolt holes.

This photo I've jumped ahead a few weeks, I've done a fair bit of work on the mill/drill and it's proving to be quite a good solid accurate machine. That rubber apron was too long and it was mounted too far down so I shortened the rubber and bolted it up higher. I still have to be careful when the cross slide is towards the back that the job or clamps do not catch on the rubber apron when doing longitudinal traversing. It's a nice big table with 4 Tee slots.
