Yes - back together in 2008?                                      Ý

Rumours continue about Yes reforming next year and possibly recording an album. But there are no firm commitments or announcements. Meanwhile band members continue their various activities unabated. See Henry Potts website for updates.

Yes - solo and collaboration concerts/tours 2007  Ý

Circa:

Circa:, the new group comprising Billy Sherwood, Alan White, Tony Kaye and Jimmy Haun will play its first concert on August 23 in San Juan Capistrano on the US west coast. Details are available at the Circa: MySpace blog. They will play their new album in entirety as well as some 'yes surprises'.

White

White has been quiescent for a while but they are opening for The New Cars on June 24 in Seattle.

Alan White

On June 28 Alan White will be appearing at The Apple Jam in Seattle which will celebrate the solo hits of The Beatles.

Steve Howe Trio

There are plans for The Steve Howe Trio to tour again later in the year after recording a new album next October.

Asia - US and European tours in July-September; UK in December

Asia is now well into the first leg of their 'Heat of the Moment' North American summer tour that will finish on July 6 in Detroit. Asia then does five concerts in Europe commencing on July 20 at the Winterbach Festival in Germany in July and finishing on July 26 in Italy. The second leg of their US tour commences on August 10 with three concerts in Hawaii and this might well be the best opportunity for us to see Asia 'down under'. The tour largely covers the west coast of North America and finishes on September 1 in Las Vegas.

There will also be a'12 dates of Christmas' tour in the UK in December. Asia has also announced that they will be recording an album for release in 2008. More details can be found at the official Asia reunion website.

Rick Wakeman 'Grumpy Old Picture Show' tour - UK in October-November

This sounds like a really interesting 12-date tour that will commence on October 24 at Tunbridge Wells, UK and continue through until November 9 in Ipswich, UK. From Rick's website

'On stage for "Rick Wakeman's Grumpy Old Picture Show" will be an acoustic piano, a keyboard rig and a lectern, from where a rather "unbelievably silly", "tongue in cheek" and at times, what may only prove to be adequately described as "hysterical", version of much of my life will be related. Accompanying all this will be specially prepared, and in many cases previously unseen, film footage illustrating both the stories and much of the music that I will be playing and finishing off with a specially prepared "film finale" that could well prove to something of a show-stopper if all goes according to plan! A studio version of "Rick Wakeman's Grumpy Old Picture Show" is being prepared for release in time for the start of the mini-tour."

New Yes and Yes solo releases                                   Ý

Asia

Asia will release a 2-CD live recording from their recent tour of Japan on June 26 in North America. Entitled 'Fantasia - Live in Tokyo', excerpts can be heard on the E-card available here. Tracks include Roundabout and a Steve Howe solo as well as ELP, Buggles, King Crimson and Asia songs. There are also plans for a companion DVD release later in the year. A studio Asia album is also being planned.

Yes news on the web                                                   Ý

Steve Howe was recently interviewed on Billboard about the plans for a new Asia studio album that should be recorded in early 2008 and how this might affect the proposed Yes reunion.

Patrick Moraz did an interview earlier this year on ProgRockRadio.com and you can access it from his website.

Here are some more Yes-related YouTube productions. First an interesting one inspired by Olias of Sunhillow; then Shoot High, Aim Low; and two inspired by Journey to the Centre of the Earth - Part 1 and Part 2.

Wolfgang's Vault is featuring a Yes concert from the Tormato tour in 1978 although it is a little unclear which one it is, being labelled as the 26th November LA Forum concert on one page and the 28th October Wembley concert on another.

Sydney YesFANZ Social Events                                     Ý

Two Sydney social events went down well in the past few months - the Chick Corea/Gary Burton/SSO concert at the Opera House was one of the better ones. Then Franky Valentyne entertained the troops celebrating Louise Steer's birthday in May at the Balmain Leagues Club.

The Next YesFANZ "birthday dinner" will be on Wednesday 18th July evening from 5.30pm at Stable's Brasserie in the Nag's Head Hotel in Glebe http://www.nagshead.com.au/new.stables.html

Take a look at the menu then come and join us to celebrate our July birthdays - Fred Grima and Bob Forbes are two for a start.

YesFANZ Members Music and Other Projects           Ý

'321 hours', the single commemorating the Beaconsfield mining disaster from the new double CD by Unitopia, 'The Garden' was released on May 9th. It featured on the Channel 7 'Sunrise' program and in various newspapers including the Sun Herald in Sydney.

YesFANZ Members Compilation CD                            Ý

Thank you to all of you that have already contributed to this project where we will compile a CD of YesFANZ members' original music. It is not too late to join! We still need more songs!

The general plan is as follows. We would like any interested YesFANZ members to submit three ORIGINAL songs that you own copyright to. In submitting the songs you will be required to sign a release that will allow YesFANZ free use of the material on the CD. Any profits made from this CD will go to support YesFANZ Inc.

Please contact me on b.d.draper@bigpond.com if you want to be involved. In the near future I will be sending out instructions to those that have indicated an interest in participating about how to submit your music for the project. Bernardo Pulgar has agreed to do the cover and is keen to start!

Progressive Rock in Australia

Graeme James found this Norwegian Jon English website that features Sebastian Hardie and Jon English.

Roger Dean                                                            Ý

Ian Joyner sighted Roger Dean in San Francisco recently but there have been no further updates about the Floating Islands project for many months now. According to Roger's website the packages previously mentioned are still available.
