THE ORDER OF ISSHIN RYU GOES INTERNATIONAL!
WELCOME TO THE
AUSTRALIAN
BRANCH OF
THE ORDER of ISSHIN-RYU
In December 2000, Sensei Danny Goding petitioned to become a member of the Order of Isshin-Ryu
In a short space of time, we have had Sensei Bill Sullivan and Sensei Kurt Kline from the Order of Isshin -Ryu (USA) visit and train us intensely.
It has been a long road of rigorous dedication, loyalty and sheer hard work and it has now been returned to us here in Australia by being allowed to become a family member of the prestigious ORDER of ISSHIN-RYU (U.S.A).
"I am so honoured to be now an official member of the Order of Isshin-Ryu" - Sensei Danny Goding.
The Order of Isshin-Ryu (Australia) aim is to teach quality Isshin-Ryu Karate.
Isshin-Ryu Karate was founded by Master Tatsuo Shimabuku in 1956.
ISSHIN-RYU KARATE - TECHNIQUES:
1: All techniques are executed from a natural stance unlike the long difficult stances of some styles.
2: Isshin-Ryu uses the vertical fist as opposed to the horizontal fist used by other styles.
**Though the vertical fist is not exclusive to Isshin-Ryu Karate, it is unique to Isshin-Ryu in comparison to other styles.
3: In fighting techniques for practicability.
4: Sharp low kicks for common sense street survival.
We represent the Liverpool RSL Youth Karate Club and our club's focus and goal is to "help keep the kids off the streets".
We have now expanded our school as of January 12, 2004. We have a Dojo at the Miller P.C.Y.C.
In 2005 we will be opening another Dojo at Colburra (South Coast). This will be the Dojo of Mr. Peter Feast.
We are only a small club, but one of the fastest growing in the Liverpool area. Our Junior class alone has doubled in size (from 39 to 120) in just over 48 months.
We currently reciprocate with Senior Dan Instructors from various other styles from near and far and through this, have built a bond between our styles.
Although Isshin Ryu techniques are designed for "economy" and "speed" we still remain "open minded" in our Martial Arts training.
We cater for every self-defence aspect for modern day, without sacrificing tradition.
TOURNAMENTS
Tournaments, though not enforced as a part of the Isshin Ryu syllabus are encouraged to "reveal character".
Tournament exposure gives the student a chance to "meet and mix" with other students from other styles as well as creating an opportunity to perform in front of audiences, thus breaking down the "embarrassment" barrier.
History of Our Club
Sensei Danny Goding is the Head Instructor of Isshin-Ryu Australia.
The Order of Isshin-Ryu Australia is a member of the Liverpool RSL Youth Club Inc.
Our belief and focus is aimed at SKILL and TECHNICAL ABILITY !
2003/2004 saw us grow intensely with support from the Liverpool City Council, Liverpool RSL, and exposure to the public with the Liverpool City Champion Newspaper.
The Liverpool City Council has offered to give our organisation exposure to the Liverpool community by offering us to perform in demonstrations held at various locations.
Because we are a proven non-profit organisation, we are being helped with airwave advertisement by friend / DJ Ian Smith at Liverpool radio station 2GLF.
