JV's Gallery

A collection of paintings by Joan Vaccaro

Broken block

Oil on canvas

A corner of a cracked block is about to fall off.

Tooth brush and paste

Oil on canvas

A still life study.

Bananas & Orange

Oil on canvas

A still life study.

Mind Space

Oil on canvas

A caricatured face is a place holder or marker for a mind.  Mind space is punctuated with such markers.

Eyes 1

Oil on canvas

Two eye balls lie staring in the foreground.  Two lines of telegraph poles stretch to the horizon.  The juxtaposition of eyes and poles suggests a connection between them.

Poles

Oil on canvas

Headless tress or poles are the only objects in an otherwise barren landscape.  One can wander aimlessly through the trees, with a sense of loneliness and at the same time a sense of peace.

Projection

Oil on canvas

Humans are complex objects.  We only see them partially, as a kind of silhouette  or projection.  A rock is a simple object.  The image explores this contrast.

Mum

Oil on canvas

Eyeball and poles

Oil on canvas

A strange juxtaposition of an eyeball and telegraph poles and wires

Mind

Oil on canvas

Our body is a kind of mask. Our mind is located somewhere inside our head mask. We can't escape.
