For breakfast we made the trek to maccas for some quality western fast food. As it was about 10AM and already probably 30 degrees, we went to Patong beach to see what was going on. Sim and I were forced to wait in blaring heat for an hour whilst the other guys swam. During our time people watching we saw many Pommy Geezers and also a number of old white men with Thai gay guys. The beach had watersports, an inflatable obstacle course and a shitload of deck chairs, but for the most part was pretty average.
After lunch Paul, Ev Mo, Blai and Sim went to the markets and met a 15 year-old Indian pirated DVD merchant. The going rate for pirated DVDs in much of Thailand is 100 baht, and the Indian dude told the boys about how he would sell his DVDs to Pommy Geezers for 800 baht and they would think they were getting a bargain and would be none the wiser. The boys thought this 15 year-old Indian DVD merchant was gold and over the next few days we all probably bought about 50 DVDs off him.
Dinner was again had at Chiang Mai Seafood, and again Sim and Blai battled in seafood-fest round 2. Following dinner we went to the main "Red-light Street" in Patong. This street is best described as a "Scunge Street" with numerous "Scunge Alleys" leading off it, and with bars/clubs frequented by tourists of dubious moral character and staffed by girls in various stages of soul destruction.
Poon spruikers were numerous along Scunge Street, indeed anywhere throughout the Scunge Thoroughfare. So too were ladboys. If one dared venture into one of the Scunge Alleys, one would be lucky to emerge with ones penis untouched, such was the voracity of the poon spruikers, a fact a number of members of the Thailoship foolhardy/courageous enough can confirm.
We settled into "Aussie Bar" to have a few beers and a few games of pool. From our vantage point we could observe many old white men negotiating prices with the Thai women of negotiable affection. It was all rather depressing.
