The Beechy has been produced as modular exhibition layout by the members of the Sunbury Model Railway Club. The name derives from the Victorian Railways 2'6" gauge branch which ran south from Colac through Beech Forest to Crowes, however the models do not represent any specific location on that line.

One of the modules in the group is Carlisle River, which already features on this site in its own right. This gallery shows the work of other members of the club, and was first photographed at the Warrnambool Exhibition, January 2001. Additional photographs were taken at the Sunbury Exhibition in October 2001 (as seen in the image above). There are yet more modules not present at either exhibition, and it is hoped over time that the "Beechy Collection" will grow to include photographs of all the modules.

The arrangement at Warrnambool saw the modules in an "L-shaped" plan, with point-to-point running. From the dual-gauge interchange station out to the terminus of the line, the modules on display (with their owners) were:

  • Loves Creek - Roger Love
  • The Trestle - club owned, built by Ken Hughes and Malcolm Carroll
  • Driwrott Creek - Laurie Green
  • Wimba - Peter MacDonald
  • Logans Mill - Malcolm Carroll
  • Unnamed (or unknown) terminus - Ken Hughes

The photographs are shown generally in that order described above, with brief captions to allow the particular module to be identified.

The layout at Sunbury was again an "L", and with ten regular 6' modules plus the "inside corner" and two "bookends" the total linear length was about 70 feet.
