Leadership in the bible is about being a servant, which, in
the Hebrew word, is about being a slave (cf Mark 10).
Mark 1, the baptism of Jesus, Isaiah 42, 49, 53, all
prophesy Jesus – the overlooked, ignored one according to the standards
of the world.
So what’s the difference between slave and servant?
Mark 10:43-44. A slave relinquishes total ownership of ourselves.
The bible talks about ‘slave leadership’, not servant
leadership. Christ came as a
slave to lead other people to life through the cross.
Leadership is slave leadership, giving yourself body, mind,
soul, to lead others to Christ and minister to them.
There is no such thing as burnout.
Give up all of yourself for the sake of the gospel, which is for
others. Do what Paul did and
pour yourself out like a drink offering. Do everything for others, sacrifice everything so that the
gospel will be preached to all nations.
