Genealogy

Really
Interesting
Program

Dear Members,

The Comms SIG will be on at 1.00 pm until 2.00 pm next Friday (11th Jan) followed by the Genealogy SIG at 2.00 pm the same day in a combined SIG due to the numbers away on holidays, etc. February will see the SIGs back to their own days with Comms on the second Friday from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm and Genealogy on the third Tuesday from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm. $5 will cover both SIGs. The combined Fridays and Tuesdays Seniors will be on next Friday from 10.00 am too. Hoping to see many of you make it to the sessions at Level 1, 280 Pitt Street, Sydney..

Wishing everyone a happy and joyous New Year and may you all enjoy good and inmproved health. Genealogy will cover the general status of research in Australia, and throughout the world.

Perhaps Genealogy will make it on to the SPCUG website in 2008.

Regards,
Terry Eakin

Previous meeting:

Subject: Next Communications SIG & Genealogy SIG both on Friday 14 Dec 2007

Dear Members

Next Friday, 14 December 2007 will be the last meetings of the Seniors, Communications and Genealogy SIGs. There will be a Christmas lunch from 12 noon to 1.15 pm at a local venue so do come to these last meetings for 2007. Comms will be for an hour followed by an hour of Genealogy. This will be a demo online of the 1911 Census of Dublin County and Dublin City which came online on Wednesday morning at 5.00 am EDS time. It can be found at www.census.nationalarchives.ie if you want to do some prep work before the meeting next Friday.I'll hook up the printer so you can take home the printouts if you find ancestors in the digital images online during the demo during the SIG.

Hoping to see a good turn out for these SIGs. Come to the morning Seniors SIG, then the lunch, then the Comms SIG and the Genealogy SIG, $5.00 will cover both the afternoon SIGS. I suggest each person coming, wraps up a CD, a floppy or some software you no longer need or anything and then there can be a lucky dip into santa's sack for a gift. It can be a book, a pen, in fact anything you do not want any longer. This is only a suggestion.

Wishing all members a happy Christmas and good health and prosperity in 2008. I've baked a Christmas cake for the afternoon tea. My apology if you get two emails as I've used both group addresses.
