The easiest way to find and remove spyware is with software. Anti-spyware software is not the same as anti-virus software, although some anti-virus packages will detect some known spyware programs such as Norton Anti Virus, the good news is that some of the best anti-spyware programs are free.

The results you get from using spyware scanning products will vary, most of the time you will need more than one program to remove unwanted software and the effectiveness of the software, also depends on how up-to-date its definitions are.

If you are running windows Xp, you should have windows defender running. This program runs in the background and monitors your system. Its not the best program, but is a must. Its totally free if you are running a legit copy of windows Xp service pack 2.

Simply downloading these programs and running scans may detect most problems, however they may not detect all. This is where other programs come in.

Spyware Doctor is a must, this program in my opinion, is one of the best out there for removing unwanted spyware. The only thing, you have to pay a small fee for a licence to remove.
