molly
MOLLY
Molly was handed to us as a small joey back in 2002 by our very dear friend Leesa from Badgingarra who was also raising joeys at the time. Molly and Leesa became the inspiration for Ken & Sandy to continue to take on new orphaned joeys for years to come. Molly lived in the house for that first year and when it was time to release her into the wild, it took her a while to finally say goodbye. Months went by without any contact until 7 months past, when suddenly she appeared at the fence with the first of her babies in her pouch (Ken & Sandy named him Polly) She continued to disappear and reappear when ever she was stressed, and we continued to hand feed her. During the bad drought of 2006 she made regular appearances to drink and feed while pregnant with her second joey, Dolly. Molly is still one of our regular Kangaroos that pop in to say hello, usually around dusk. We have recently noticed that she is pregnant again!

GINGER
Ginger came to Ken & Sandy from another carer from Dongara. He was suffering with a bad leg and a broken tail after being injured on the road (His mother was killed) He was rehabilitated to the wild but suffered a further setback when his Achilles tendon came away from heal bone after trying to keep up with the mob. It was decided to take him to the vet in Geraldton as we had fallen in love with his personality. The operation was performed and he was put in a cast for 6 weeks. Ginger was so great full for all the attention, and was the perfect patient. Ken ended up sleeping next to his home made pouch every night in case he damaged himself if he needed to get out. Ginger was never going to be able to be completely rehabilitated to the wild, so a decision was made to have him castrated to protect him from being attacked by the other males. We released the mob last year from the pre release pen except for Ginger. But he would look longingly out of the pen at the others that had their freedom and it was decided to let him go as well as it seemed cruel that he was destined to remain in the pen. Ginger now is with the mob and seems to know his limitations and is free to come and go when ever and where ever he wants.
tilly
TILLY
Tilly was found on Jurien East Road Badgingarra covered in ants beside her dead mum (another victim of the road) She was successfully nursed back to health. It was noticed after a while that her right leg had the toe curved inwards and that her pouch was smaller than normal joeys. It was first thought that the toe was the result of the accident, but this was ruled out after xrays. Although she was physically abnormal she made up for in personality. It was decided that we could possibly help with the foot, so she was operated on by a very caring retired vet near Dongara. To this day she is an integral part of the gang and her personality sets her apart from rest of the mob.
lilly
LILLY
Lilly came to us from a farm in Badgingarra (her mother had been shot) She was a very cute joey and became a bit of a celebrity as she loved to be in some of the early photo opportunities around the district. Lilly has grown into a very pretty Kangaroo and still often visits us with the mob for any current Photo opportunities. On the 18th October 2007 Lilly was chased by a big buck up towards the house and was roughed up as he had his way with her. It was a distressing and bloody encounter at the time, but a few days later even the scars on her tail had healed. Just recently we noticed that our girl has a small wriggling bulge appearing in her pouch and we look forward to seeing the new Joey’s head appear in the coming months.
tj and lilly
TJ
TJ from Toodyay came to us via the Jurien Bay carers Barry & Sheryl just prior to her release with the mob. Talk about a spoiled little girl! She is an absolutely adorable, quiet, and inquisitive Kangaroo that has decided that she wants to be the matriarch of the new baby joeys that are mobbing up in the pre release pen. As she is an expert on release having been part of last year’s mob, it’s like she is comforting the six others and telling them what to expect in the months to come. TJ is always hanging around the house and gardens and is never to far away. She loves a party and is often caught sidling up to guests and grabbing a biscuit or two. She is very lay back and is one of the favourites of the family and friends.
flash
FLASH
Flash came to us after his mother had been killed on the road south of Green Head. He was so named because of a distinctive white marking under his eye and chin. He was an instant hit with the carers and went everywhere with them (In fact as a tribute to him the main photo shows Flash hopping thru the world famous Pinnacles) on one of his many outings as a joey. Sadly Flash’s life was tragically cut short when the mob got spooked in the pre release pen and he hit the fence, breaking his back. He was put down and is buried on the Kenandra property under a Kaffir lime tree.
banksia and mickey

banksia, mickey and roxy

BANKSIA
Banksia came to us from Moora. Her mother had been shot and Banksia was found by a fencing contractor who looked after her until she was delivered to the Kenandra property for further caring. She has been a delight to look after and has bonded really well with another Joey called Mickey. The spend many hours together playing and hugging each other.

MICKEY
Mickey came to us from Cervantes. He was found by the local tour operator on the road from the Pinnacles. His mother had been another victim of road kill. He has settled into the pre release pen and spends many hours playing with his sole mate, Banksia.

ROXY
Roxy was found under a tree at the Kenandra property and was brought to the house for protection from Foxes. She has not had an easy rehabilitation to date with a scare a few months ago when she could not hop. A visit to the Vet revealed that she had pulled her muscles and that a little Rest and relaxation was the way to go. She is almost now back to normal.
RUBY RUBY ROO and BILLY BARGE ARSE
Ruby Ruby Roo came from Leeman along with Billy Barge Arse These two guys are inseparable and since their release in August 2007 have continued to never be too far away from the house which is a worry, because Billy is now getting quite big and possessive of his girl and is always ready for a fight with his carers.
nutmeg
NUTMEG
Nutmeg was another road trauma victim who has teamed up with Roxy and is appreciative of the carers efforts to rehabilitate her.

MORRIS
Morris was found by Ken on the Jurien East Road in Badgingarra. His young mother had been hit by a vehicle and needed to be cut from the pouch. Morris was extremely small and known as a pinky (no fur and eyes still not formed properly) It is usually very rare that pinky’s survive in care, but Pam who specializes in pinkys was able to keep him alive and turn him into a healthy furey little Joey. He is now happily playing in the pre release pen with his mate Brandy of the same vintage (sorry age!)

BRANDY
Brandy was found on the Brand Highway by Barry and is a very cute little joey that has been given a second chance at life. Brandy and Morris have teamed up and are great company for each other.
