Purple Day 26th March 2011

A very big THANK YOU to everyone who took part in Purple Day.

The people & friends of Newcastle to date have raised

$1'468.00

La Fiesta - Zumba Newcastle. What a fantastic turnout there was at the Purple Zumba class run by Rene at Lambton High School. Thank you to everyone who wore purple and made a donation.

Jon Dickson Guardian Pharmacy at 280 Maitland Road, Mayfield had two great purple out of uniform days and didn't the shop look great. Thank you to all the customers that donated during this time.

 

Michelle's on Victoria situated on the corner of Victoria and Maitland Road had delicious purple iced cakes, YUM!

 

Blooms the Chemist at 179A Maitland Road, Mayfield dressed their windows with purple and handed out information on epilepsy. If you would like to donate to Purple Day, Blooms the Chemist is still taking donations.

 

 

Hair 173 at 173 Maitland Road, Mayfield saw Karen with a purple streak in her hair. Thanks to all the customers who donated money while having their hair done.

 

WARABROOK SHOPPING CENTER.

The Epilepsy Support Group of Newcastle held an awareness stand in the Warabrook Shopping Centre. Thank you to Warabrook Woolworths for letting us hold the stall and supplying the table and chairs. The Woolworths staff on the day also wore Purple Day stickers. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the stall and made a donation.

Warabrook Shopping Centre was a blaze of purple. Purple balloon, purple awareness stall, purple cakes & purple clothing.

The staff at Divine Hair & Body Works were dressed in purple. They are still taking donation, so drop in for a haircut.

Thompson & Sons Bakery sold purple cakes and they were very yummy. Sales from these cakes go to Purple Day.

Millers displayed purple clothing.

 

              All these events totaled to

        $761.85.

Thank you Claire Tipper and Francis Greenway High School, they raised $238.00 also Wallsend South Public School who raised $290.00 for going purple and raising awareness of epilepsy amongst their school friends. Claire Tipper raised a total of $528.00 well done.

Holly Blake was out at Stockton Greenhills Shopping Centre where she held an awareness stand, sold Cabury chocolate, purple cakes and lavender plants. Holly raised $178.15 :)

All this purple made people ask questions and that's what it's all about ......  we did it, we got the word epilepsy out there.
