The Family
24th April 2005
Two tired adults, one giant teenager, one wild eyed small boy, three
Guinea pigs and four bolshie cats!
We had intended to have this page updated in time for Xmas 2004, but
that was not to be, it appears we are only able to manage an update every
two years, so here is our
2004 - 2005
McInerney family events
To summarize the last two years won't take long ;-)
this stage of our lives was characterized by evolution rather than
revolution, until about a month ago.......
Most of the time was taken up by our normal routine of working, (paid
and unpaid), going to school, enjoying our various pastimes, (kids
all the time, adults when we can fit them in!) and particularly in Ceridwen's
case, trying to get enough sleep! We did manage a couple of family
excursions during 2004/05, including attending Tom's first (and last) Scout
camp,
and joining Ceridwen in Canberra for a day at the science Museum at
the end of one of her Pharmacy conventions. While we were there we
noticed this.............
How very Canberra......... ;-)
We also managed to visit Aunty Rita a couple of times
Our April 04 visit above and April 05 below.
The children are growing!
For a short period before her sad passing in late 2005, Aunty Sheila
moved from South Australia and joined Rita in Sans Souci. It was
great for us to see Sheila more often and they enjoyed spending time together
for the first time in many years. Rita is now the only one of the
five sisters and three brothers of Marie McInerney (James' mother)
still with us, and our Matriarch is greatly loved by all the family.
In early December Ceridwen's parents, David and Ena, celebrated 50 years
of marriage.
We had a little party for them at Euronwy's (Ceridwen's sister) house
in Mt Colah attended by close family.
Our old friend Miriam (Myrtle) also got married in December 2004
on a beach near Wollongong.
She then moved to Cairns where she is getting along very well, and
her eldest daughter, Sapphire,
has become a movie star and now has her own website!
Christmas 2004 was at our house, and we had most of the extended family
and a friend or two...
Here is James and Ceridwen fighting over a Xmas cracker... ;-)
We had a big fright in February 05 when we arrived home from shopping
after a violent windstorm to find this...
No, Tom didn't do it!
A very large pine tree in next door's backyard was uprooted by the
storm and fell on the house. It smashed a large section of the wall
on the right, but luckily it caught on the wire dividing fence and despite
appearances, was just resting lightly on the gutter. The SES came
about midnight and very quickly and efficiently removed it! The only
damage to the house was a slightly bent gutter and a broken tile, which
we didn't discover till it started raining in November!
In July we managed another of our rare holidays, spending a couple of
days on the mid North coast, including a day at Timbertown at Wauchope,
which Ceridwen and James had last visited in 1978.
Here we are in the main street of Timbertown
We were tempted.. ;-).
We still have plenty of wildlife around and in the house. In the
backyard there are still plenty of waterdragons, skinks and a couple of
blue tongue lizards, the parrots, kookaburras and whipbirds can be seen
and heard regularly, as can the possums who live in the ceiling and wall
spaces! Recently we came home to find this little lizard almost perfectly
camouflaged on the carpet!
This covers all the family activities we can think of (and have photos
of ;-)...
There are more details of each family member's individual efforts on
their personal page.
