JON HAYTON, born in 1942, became
the lead guitarist for Dig Richards & The R'Jays in 1958. He
stayed with the R'Jays when the band went out on it's own in 1961 and
then transformed into the Rajah's in1964. LEON ISACKSON, born in 1942, became
the R'Jays drummer in 1959 and also stuck with the band through the
sixties with Johnny O'Keefe. Jon
and Leon's paths crossed again, backing artists like Winifred Atwell
and The Delltones during the seventies. Leon still writes and plays
music for a living. ***************************

Welcome to the site. On behalf of my late co-author, Jon Hayton, I hope you enjoy
the book as much as we enjoyed writing it. Behind the Rock was only a short run for Time-Life in
1990 and it was hastily edited and printed in Hong Kong before we could see
the final draft. The original hard copy of the book has been out of print for
some time now and I have been grateful for the opportunity to correct the
mistakes and omissions of the original book and add the continuing story of
PART 3 as Jon and I always intended. Jon wrote some funny irreverent things
that still make me laugh so it was a pleasure to put them all back in. In addition to the re-edited text, we have also included
new related pics for PARTS 1. 2. and 3 as well as a few appropriate Pop-Up
pics in every chapter. These are a bit like finding easter eggs so you will have
to read the book. Part of the process of reading a book is the use of your
own imagination which can sometimes draw better pics than the real ones so I
hope these Pop-Ups will not deter from the text. It's sometimes nice to know
what these turkeys really looked like (including me). We had a lot of fun finding a few pics from the
scrapbook that fitted chronologically
with the story. The site is a living evolving thing – so we welcome any
suggestions (or pics). If we ever find some more appropriate ones we will be
happy to stick them in, so keep watching. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my web
mistress, Shell for her dedication, encouragement and hard work in bringing
this project On Line. Enjoy. Best wishes |
