Wherever a Car Can Go ...

A SHAY LOCOMOTIVE

CAN HAUL IT!!

On rough uneven track, light rails, sharp curves, and steep grades, Shay Geared locomotives are daily hauling loads where rod engines would be helpless.

Every wheel a driving wheel, every pound of weight adhesive weight, a three cylinder engine driving through flexible drive shaft and no counterbalance to hammer the rails, are some of the reasons why Shays are economical, successful Mining & logging units.

All parts are readily accessible to facilitate the tasks of lubrication, adjustment, or repairs.

The average Hauling Capacity of Wolgan Valley Shays is shown in the following table. Grades of 1 in 10 can be negotiated.
