Lump of Shale.
A 10 kg lump of Kerosene Shale from Newnes. This appears to be the average size cut especially
for export. Shale is very hard, but it lights easily with a match giving off dense smoke.
One Ton of shale can produce 676 liters of crude oil. Kerosene Shale is Bitumenised mud, and
is once again being mined in Australia after fifty years. 3,300,000 tons of shale were removed
in N.S.W. over nintey years.
