Water Tank at Newnes

The only remaining large relic at Newnes Works area from Shay Locomotives that worked the line to Newnes Junction. It is reported that this tank belonged to No 2 with a 11250 Liter capacity.

Commonwealth Oil Corporation employed four class C Lima Shay locomotives on their private railway to service the oil works. They differed slightly from each other:
No 1 - 65 tons; builder number 1776; built 1906; tractive effort 30,350 lbs; named Constance
No 2 - 70 tons; builder number 1994; built 1907; tractive effort 30,350 lbs
No 3 - 70 tons; builder number 2100; built 1908; tractive effort 30,350 lbs
No 4 - 90 tons; builder number 2270; built 1910; tractive effort 40,400 lbs

All were scrapped by the late 1950s.
