Artists Statement
I studied at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland from 1968 -1972.
Since my arrival here in Australia twenty-six years ago I have enjoyed the incredible quality of the light on the landscape. My interests have always been reflected in my work, where surfaces, structure and forms still are my greatest passions. Colour is extremely important as well.
The climate and lifestyle in Queensland has immediately impinged on my paintings. Geology is everywhere…the cuttings at the roadside, the intense colours of the earth, all these are strong influences.
Layers are evident and the patterns produced by these structures have become of major importance to my recent work.
Recently I have been exploring the addition of metallic surfaces in my mixed media images.
