Battery sense wire
The way the regulator receives power on the Disco is different to the Mitsubishi. Why? Because it's english. The Mitsu has a wire for the battery charge light (L) AND a permanent posiitve battery sense lead (S). Both need to be connected for the regulator to operate. The easiest way to sort this was to run a fly lead from the positive output terminal on the alternator. It's heavy flex and once I got the length right I did the terminals in heatshrink too.

With the battery sense lead supplied with power, all that is required is for the old battery light lead to be plugged into the "L" socket - a simple chop and change of the terminals to a female spade plug and it just sits next door to the yellow one here.
