Today was the "Sweet Potato Party". Every student went out onto the baseball field to their home room's position to set up a fire and get ready to do some sweet potato cooking! Seeing as this was the whole school, there was toooo much smoke coming from everyone's fires and so my eyes were watering for most of the day. Some people had set up a little fry pan over their tins filled with fire and some smart people had a couple of the tins with a big slab of metal to have a real big BBQ. Our class cooked some sort of Japanese soup and also had sweet potato cooking wrapped in foil. It was an interesting day, and the food we finally made was tasty, but my eyes turned a dark red with all the smoke... It didn't seem to bother anyone else!
Very soon (next Wednesday) I will be going on the Rotary Autumn Tour to Hiroshima, Nara, etc. and then onto the District Conference, where apparently all the exchange students have to do some kind of performance and then the speeches we have been asked to do....
