Rhyme, Rhythm and Repetition

What if we take an old story and make it new? Hear how a well-known tale generated a new story, and then join the writer and storyteller to create your own version of an old favourite.

Repetition

Students will see how changing words, characters or problems can transform a story. They will also experience first hand how a story is made. The frame story for this workshop is 'There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly'.

In this 60 minute session, students will have the opportunity to hear stories and create a new story of their own.

Haven Island Horn

"The Haven Island Horn" is a tightly structured workshop with an ocean theme. Students are guided in the exploration of some marine characters who must face a grand adventure in a mysterious underwater setting.

Students look at setting, characterisation and plot before producing their own first draft story. This workshop can be adapted for single or multiple step-by-step sessions.

Author Visits

Where do stories come from? From ideas to published books, students will share the experience of writing and all it entails. The session includes picture development from rough first draft through to final proofs. Planning, plot, character development and reworking are all included in this interactive and informative session. Most sessions include a simple activity based on one of my books.
