Object Names

The default names of the converted objects is '<objecttype>+RowID' eg Region 10 or Line 15 except for Text Objects where the name is always the same as the text.

Note: some numbers may appear to be skipped if not all objects in the table are displayed in the current map window. Any rows in a layer that have no map objects are silently skipped.

All Names, both default or custom, are truncated to 50 characters.

Custom names can be assigned by turning on LABELS for the MapInfo layer. A custom expression can then be used to make complex names such as combining values from several table columns eg NAME + ADDRESS.

Labels will be ignored if the layer is not a BASE table eg QUERY results cannot use labels for object names.
