Milling the uprights to be parallel and same dimension.

Just stacked up and to check and mark the edges that I have to bevel for welding. Material is 6inch wide by 3/4 inch thick mild steel strip.

Clamping the uprights in place and getting it square crosswise.

After the uprights were welded in place I then clamped, aligned and welded the feet on, making the bottom of the feet as aligned with each other as possible.

All welding finished and looking a goer.

I shimmed the job as necessary to remove any rocking then clamped the job down not too tight, don't want to distort the thing otherwise after releasing the faces of the feet won't be in true alignment. Shims are really cheap, the walls of Aluminium drink cans are about .004 inches(0.1mm) thick, very handy.

Top surface has been faced, had to do 3 cuts as this 4 tool facing head is only so wide. I will do a full face cut later on in the process.
