Using a piece of Aluminium riser from a previous casting, I machined the end to be used as a mandrel.

I had previously cut a hole with a hole saw in this piece of MDF(Medium Density Fibreboard) so the mandrel was machined to suit. Here the MDF disc is mounted on the mandrel

I worked out what diameter the disc had to be to fit 22and 1/2 inches of tape measure around. As I got down close to the diameter I repeatedly checked the tape fit around the disc and took small cuts until the tape matched up exactly 22.5 inches. You can see from the pic that I'm working from the 60 inch end of the tape, 60 -- 22.5 = 37.5 mark. If I had have used a 1mm tape the disc would be a bit on the small side and using 2mm per degree would be too much as the diameter would not swing in the 9x20 lathe(maximum swing is about 8 and 3/4inch) So 1/16 inch, which is a bit over 1.5mm turned out to be very suitable disk size for this lathe.

Now boring out the mandrel to close fit on the pin of my indexing gadget. This will be parted off and fitted to the MDF disc.

I fitted the measuring tape to the disc with several small staples around the periphery then I wrapped white electrical tape around a couple of turns and that hid the numbers nicely.

Here it is after marking each 10th mark, giving 360 degree marks total.

I made a quick knife edge "pointer" and I think this will do the job ok but am thinking of trying a sharp point type pointer as using a magnifying glass over a sharp point might be somewhat less prone to getting parallax error. I need this gizmo so that I can mark degrees on the Gingery shaper tool head. I'm sure that I will find this degree wheel quite handy for other projects involving degrees and simple indexing for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, etc, etc, spacings.

When I fitted the hub to the disc I put some Araldite on and used three countersunk head wood screws. I have not key wayed the hub as it's able to be tightened on to the spindle gadget quite tight and I couldn't get it to slip so all is well.
