Checking for thickness and for parallel.

Drilled and tapped M10x1.5 and counter-bored to 12mm diameter.

Thread on each end of pin is M10x1.5, the short plain section is 12mm diameter very close fit in block. The long plain section has 25mm length that is a close fit in 4 way tool post and the rest has a bit more clearance. The pin has been machined from a piece of front strut rod from a car.

All the bits. Stainless steel top nut, stainless steel handle shaft and Aluminium knob, the radius on the end of which was cut using my ball turner. I made and case hardened the index pin which is a bit longer than the original, luckily I found a suitable spring in my "hungry box" for springs.

All assembled. This tool post mount is nice and solid and although I am quite happy with the rigidity of the compound with the mods I did to it this one is of course very rigid.
