Patient
I met you all those years ago
We felt instant chemistry
But the timing wasn’t right back then
It wasn’t meant to be
Who knew our paths would cross again
That we’d be standing here today
But things happen for a reason
And it worked out best this way
You dedicated a song to me
With a smile you wished me well
And from that moment I fell for you
I was cast under your spell
At first it was sheer lust I felt
I liked your rockstar style
The leather jackets and skinny jeans
And the cheekiness in your smile
But then that night I saw you sing
I got to know you more
You opened up and I found
Many more things to adore
I learnt we’ve both faced challenges
And struggled through a trial
But if mine brought me here to you
I know it was worthwhile
You worried that I would get cold
Gave me your jacket to wear
Your thoughtfulness and tender touch
Have shown how much you care
I’m impressed by your honesty
You mean every word you say
And you have such a zest for life
Embracing each new day
I like that you are fearless
In chasing your big dream
And how we share a love of music
And a fervent passion for ice cream
I love that you chased after me
Just so you could say goodbye
And how you give a playful grin
Whenever you catch my eye
The other night you sang the words
While looking straight at me
My heart that I had locked away
Was suddenly set free
I am trying to be patient
And leave the future up to fate
Because I know when we first share a kiss
It will be worth the wait
