I began writing poetry in 1997 on my 14th birthday when my uncle Rick bought me a collection of Nan Witcomb’s poetry called ‘The Thoughts of Nanushka’.

That book and my uncle’s words of encouragement compelled me to write whenever I was overcome with emotion or needed to express what was in my heart.

The poems below span many years and mostly revolve around the many guys I developed crushes on or dated. A lot of the situations in the poems are exaggerated and some are actually based on the experiences of my friends.

I often write poetry as a means of obtaining closure after a breakup or significant life event, or as a way of expressing how I feel. I try to write my poems in a way so that anyone can relate to them.

I suppose I like to capture the raw emotion of such feelings and find poetry is the best form of literature to achieve this. I hope you enjoy reading my poetry. Please let me know your thoughts and comments by email.
