Tryst

It took six months of flirting
Before you asked me out
To dinner and a movie
And then cuddling on your couch

We kept our tryst a secret
Afraid what they would say
But it was hard to hide our feelings
That grew stronger everyday

Our love has a solid foundation
On which I can depend
You are more than just a lover
You’re also my best friend

You’ve been there for me in tough times
And always come to my defence
You love me without question
And without pretense

Your love is like a blanket
Comforting and warm
My protective cover and security
It can weather any storm
