Status: Resident / fairly common
The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is one of Australia's best known birds and is commonly kept as a pet, it can be taught to talk quite clearly. In Penrith, they can often be found along the Nepean River in Tench Reserve, but are not seen in the town itself very often, unlike the Corellas which frequent gardens and parks.
Size: 45 cm
Voice: Extremely loud raucous screech
Nesting Ecology: Nests in tree hollows and holes in cliffs
Australian Distribution: Down the east coast of Aust. From the Kimberleys to Tas and across to S.Aust. also New Guinea
