Status: Migratory / Common some years, rare others.
The White-winged Triller is a very attractive, smallish, black and white bird. They appear around September and return to the North in February.

Often seen hanging on weeds where it is feeding on insects, or sitting on a high branch of a tree 'trilling' away. This year I was fortunate to come across a flock of about 30 of these birds in a field in Penrith. They were only there for one day, presumably en-route to Victoria during their annual migration. However one pair at least appears to have stayed behind and I believe have nested locally.

Size: 18 cm
Voice: trilling call
Nesting Ecology: The nest is a small, open, shallow construction, placed in a fork of a tree, from 1 to 10m above the ground. Sep-Jan.
Australian Distribution: Throughout Australia, straggler to Tas.
