It’s been a long time since the last update, so some of the following will be glossed over a little here and there.
Season 2
The first few episodes of the session saw the slow writing out of some of the characters from Season 1. Carlowe simply returned to the work he’d been doing in the past and appear less and less. Miyuki vanished after a run on Drake shares saw the Sanvean family’s power base cut from under them. Her whereabouts and current plans are unknown. Mason has been put in charge of guarding the Level 4 access ramp, along with a few of the locals who live in that area. They pay a small tax to Imperial Inc to cover costs and establish decent defences. Some of these funds are paid to the Royalists for extra protection.
Squirrel scrounged several spare parts and jury rigged much of the Falcon’s systems to get her up and running again. This includes a new computer system, which is very advanced for a shuttle. It also has a new dual system installed. So that the surface computer functions are all normal, while a hidden system runs the Falcon’s more covert aspects. This includes the controls for the anti-personal gun turret mounted below the bridge. She has lost the smugglers compartment, hidden in the cargo bay, but Squirrel now knows several small places he can hide stuff. Bob having been shot several times at one point or another seems to have developed a habit of drawing the attention of Hypercomputers defence drones. Trey has lost his job at Ultratech, but has gotten a similar one at Hypercomputers via Amanda. Amanda in turn has recently been promoted after having been involved in a task force against a group called the Phoenix. When they found out about her car however they planted a bomb, which almost killed Amanda, and as such she has some new Cyberwear and a new Bodyguard called Marcus.
Two new members have joined the cast. Marcus Livingstone-Wentworth and Johnathan “Jack” Bailey. Marcus is clean cut, young, and just a little bit wet behind the ears, but he has been assigned to Amanda as her bodyguard. So far he hasn’t had much of chance to show his stuff. Jack was hired by NEMO to Pilot the Falcon, while Amanda recovered from the wounds. His previous job of working for Drake as a courier is yet to be explained to the rest of the cast.
In the last episode Amanda went to her car, which exploded when she unlocked it. The blast knocked her backwards into the lift. Trey found her and made sure she was rushed to hospital. Simonsson was able to get there and do the surgery to keep her alive. Azreal made sure the latest Cyberhardwear was used to replace her Left arm and Lung. Meanwhile Nemo had booked the Falcon to deliver supply to Gial 3. Needing a new Pilot he hired Jack for the job. The Falcon took to the airs for the first time this session. Her “new” engines needed to be rebalanced, but Jack got her to the Behemoth. Everyone was on board including Amanda’s new guard Marcus. Aboard the Behemoth everyone but Bob avoiding the windows while she jumped to the Gial system. The arrived and delivered the supplies, but on the way down, the Falcon developed a problem. A part had blown out on a thruster. Jack was able to get her under control and land, but Squirrel had to try and source some spare parts. They found out that another shuttle had crashed recently and offered the Pilot a seat out of the system in exchange for the parts. He agreed and booked passage for himself and a cargo pod of parts. Squirrel was also able to scrounge up an empty Cargo pod, along with a bag or two of the local Potatoes. Amanda was able to use the bananas that Marcus had gotten for her, to capture another monkey alive. Bob in turn pushed over a tree and got a deceased monkey of his own. With very little cargo in the bay, and only one passenger the Falcon stood ready for launch back to the Behemoth.
To be continued…….
Date 30/01/2007 (Special note there are two updates listed here from last year. The file will be brought completely up to date with the next update to the site.)
While Miyuki recovered from her new cybereye operations, Mason and Squirrel explored a little more of the “Nemo” complex and discovered an area underground, which contained ancient holding cells. They also discovered some limited drainage and moved their shower to take advantage of this. Nemo informed them that Biomed had hired some space aboard the Falcon 1, to ship materials to their new colony. This was because so much of the Drake fleet was involved in shipping APCs and gear to Prime.
Amanda heard on the grape vine that another MIB attack had happened at a different Hypercomputers complex. The next day Azreal assigned her to look into a missing member of their team. He was the agent assigned to investigating the two MIB attacks.
Bob’s friend from “Next door” got some money by being a test case for some new Hypercomputers implant.
Amanda called on Trey to help hack into Tony Walsh’s computer, and they found out he was about to meet someone who had really important information about the case. They also found out he has taken from the building via a helicopter on the roof.
By going to a gang bar, on third level to get the information Tony was after. While there they not only got the information but also found out Tony was not dead, and had been seen on Level 3. Looking at the information, they discovered it was Micheal who had arranged the MIB attacks with orders to wound not kill. They followed the lead of Tony still being alive and found Bob, who was watching an argument between his friend Paul and some other guy who also claimed to be Paul. The second Paul turned out to be Tony. He had been ghost hacked, which is the first case of this happening. Amanda reported this to Azreal, who in turn corrected Amanda and said the Tony was dead, and that his remains should be turned in for recycling. Amanda took the hint and executed Tony on the spot.
In the mean time they also made friends with Bob and gave him a phone so they could call him for jobs involving muscle.Bob then found out another gang battle was raging around him home, so he went to the third floor to stop the snipers. He killed their guard, and wounded one of the snipers but they both got away. On the street below he could see a large close combat fight going on. Two green Gloves Cyborgs were using chainblade and making a mess of the royalists. Bob returned to the street level and entered the fight, after a prolonged fight, one of the chainblader’s cut Bob’s leg very badly, but Bob was able to kill him. Using his new phone Bob called for help, and Amanda came and got him after shooting a gang member who ran over the top of her car. She bandaged Bob and got him to hospital where Simonsson was waiting, to patch him up. When Bob woke up he had been cleaned, shaved, and his leg was expertly stitched. Amanda had gotten him some new clothes as the old ones had been burnt. However when he returned to his “home” it had been picked clean, and there was another person claiming to be Paul next door. So he killed the new Paul and got some move for him off a recycling place.
Azreal wanted Amanda to stay quite about the case of Tony, so he gave her a couple of weeks leave, which meant she was free to pilot the Falcon on its cargo run to Gial. Guessing they might need some muscle, the whole team went to the Falcon 1 for the flight.
To be continued…. (end of first update)
The Falcon launched with a near full cargo bay and the rest of the team in the passenger section. In orbit it docked with a Biomed FTL ship called the Behemoth which turned out to be a good name for overly large ship with not the best state of the art equipment on board. It was clear to the team that Biomed had a lot of ground to cover before they were as developed with FTL flight as Drake. The trip to Gial was 5 days long, and during that time people learnt to eat and sleep as much as possible while in real space and put up with motion sickness during the Hyperflight parts. Tray, Amanda, and to a lesser extent Miyuki draw a little attention from the ships navigators, because as Dolphins they could see their Cyberwear. It seems that working for Biomed creates a view that while Cyberlinks are OK machine parts instead of organic parts was somehow a social taboo. However the trip was uneventful and they soon found themselves getting read to drop to Gial 3 to deliver their goods. As the Falcon and one other ship where Drake designed they could drop directly to the base on the planet. But half of the Biomed shuttles were sent to the moon base while the rest follow the Falcon to their makeshift airstrip. Having landed they found they had a couple of hours to look around while the ship was unloaded. Although apart from some temporary buildings the colony didn’t consist of much yet. Much of the new construction was using the shipping containers are their foundations, which were being laid out in a giant curve, likely to encircle the colony when enough materials had arrived.
They had lunch, which consisted in part of the local potato, which had already bee proven to be safe to eat. It seemed the locals were already bored with it however because they were happy to get pot noodle. It wasn’t long before the Falcon was air born again and returning to the waiting Behemoth, however when they reached zero-g they could hear the sound of a screeching coming from the cargo bay. This turned out to be a Gial 3 primate a little larger than a chimpanzee. By altering the cargo bays atmosphere they were able to knock it out and capture it. They got it identified but otherwise didn’t let it off the Falcon until they arrived at Prime 4. However one jump away from the Prime system the Behemoth dropped into real space as normal and found itself caught in the crossfire between other ships.
While taking heavy damage she was forced to blind jump for a few minutes, with everyone ready in the shuttles which might have to work as lifeboats. After the short jump she found she was badly damaged and spinning nose over tail slightly, which caused problems for the navigators, who needed Zero-g to get around the ship. 10 hours latter they jumped again into the Prime system and made orbit over Prime 4. She launched her shuttles and headed to a new orbit to make proper repairs. The Falcon however didn’t land as well as you might hope and belt some of her landing gear.
This drew a small crowd and cost around ½ million to repair in parts etc. Squirrel and Carlowe did most of the repairs themselves before Squirrel headed off to try and find some cargo to ship back home, which might help offset the cost of the repairs. While this a refuelling was going on, Trey Amanda and Carlowe hit on the idea of showing off their “Lucky Space Monkey”, because it was the monkey’s luck which had saved them to well during the landing. By selling tickets and small bags of the monkeys dung, they were about to raise just over $900. They then sold the monkey for another $1300. Which managed to pay for almost half of their fuel bill. Also while they were there, they noticed that the Space port had been recently extended, but the new area was completely Drake military. Amanda could see several APCs in a line, which she considered trying to steal one of. Lucky for her common sense held her back. Still with the intent of making as much money as possible to cover the repairs they set of again having booked passage on a Drake ship which was headed back to Earthstone.
When they arrived at Earthstone both Trey and Amanda failed to safely pilot the Falcon again but this time it was much worse. By the time the shuttle had stopped it was missing four of it’s landing legs, the three port engines had been crushed by the wall they had slid into and the hull had been ruptured in several places.
Nemo had the wreck moved to a holding dock, where they sold off the fuel which was leaking out to help cover costs. But luckily no one was hurt and the Cargo survived.
Squirrel went down to talk to Nemo about what had happened, and while he was talking to him Nemo main power dropped off line. He suspected a break had occurred on the 3 rd level and set Squirrel, Bob, and Mason to investigate. When they got there they found another gang fight had recently happened, but they also found a very Cyborged guy being inject with drugs by someone in a suit. Squirrel attempted to get the guy with a bomb, but he kept coming. Mason shot him twice, but he kept coming. Bob called Amanda who in turn set a security force to deal with the guy from Hypercomputers. They shot him a great many times and he finally died.
Amanda took custody of the body and told Trey about it. They took it down to Nemo so Simonsson could check him out as well. They found he had a range of mismatch cyberwear, including a new cyberhead. He has been given a large amount of drugs first to fit the cyberwear and then to send him mad. But investigating his background they found out he was no one special who only had a datalink implant. So the cyberwear was all new. Trey hacking into the remains of his brain, and confirmed this was done against his will. Trey and Amanda deduced that he was some sort of test to cause problems for someone, but they don’t know who yet or just how it will work.
To be continued…..This was the end of season 1 of Cyberstone. Season 2 will be 2007 starting in mid January.
In the news they found out Biomed had formed a colony in a new starsystem.
While Trey recovered in hospital with his new arm having been fitted, Mason found his home was becoming more and more of a problem as with w new building being built two levels above, his apartment was now third level. So he decided to move down to Level 8 into one of room around Nemo.
He got Squirrel and Miyuki to help him with the truck so they could move all his gear in one go. However when they were on their wayback down they discovered a small gang battle raging between the Royalist and the Green Gloves. The battle was because the border between their territories was right over when the down ramp to level 4 was.
Squirrel and Mason armed with a basketball and their normal weapons went closer to investigate. Sneaking up behind some of the Green Gloves, Squirrel tossed the basketball into the room with them and then he and Mason ran as fast as they could.
The explosion from the ball killed the Green Gloves in the room and tipped the balance of power in favour of the Royalists. So they charged ahead with the truck before the fight could get back down to sniping at each other again.
While they were moving Mason in Miyuki heard the fait sound of running water in the distance. So they went to look into it, and found a reasonable fast flowing river, which seemed to be clean fresh water. They took some to sample and set trey about the task of trying to find out where it was coming from. It seemed to be natural water just flowing down from the far distant mountains. As it has long since failed to be a water supply to the city itself which collects much of its water from artificial catchments etc.
While waiting for the tests to come back from Simonsson, Squirrel gat a call from Runner. It seems he wanted to know is Squirrel could repair some damaged Cyberware used by the Royalist’s brutes. Squirrel agreed to try but also asked Mason, Miyuki and Carlowe to go with him as protection in case the royalists didn’t like his work or worst, liked it to much.
They went to the Royalist camp and Runner showed them to where the men were waiting to be fixed. While he made the repairs, they also learnt that Squirrel seemed to be reporting to someone called a “Tydern”.
They paid Squirrel for his work and let them leave, although Mason, Miyuki and Carlowe also swiped and few small spare parts here and there. Squirrel also asked for the Royalists to allow their truck to pass where the battle had taken place. Runner said he’d to look into it for them.
Returning to Level 8 Mason realised they could use a hot water supply. They could rig a pipe to the river, and run the whole water tank down there with themselves, which would mean hot running water for bathing and cooking. As his old apartment still had it’s they decided it might be the best option for getting one cheep.
So they used the truck, forklift and some det-cord, to disconnect and remove the tank which was designed to service around 30 apartments.
So they now have a large hot water system being supplied with a hose and a small pump.
Meanwhile up at the space port, several more Drake owned APCs where being shipped off world each day.
To be continued…..
Having birthed their new Shuttle they set about disguising it slightly to make it hard to locate, both externally and virtually. Thus Nemo hacked the Drake computer systems to forge a bill of sale for the shuttle which has been rechristened the Imperial Falcon I, and ordered a crew from the space port to sand blast off any old logos, and reprime the outside hull. (He didn’t have the funds for a full repainting.)
They also discovered that the shuttle had most likely been used by Drake for a number of smuggling jobs and was not on the formal books. This was made evident by the second computer system hidden in the background of the main computer. A hidden compartment in the back of Cargo pod 1. It seems this pod was a fake made just for the purpose of hiding the extra storage space.
In the hidden compartment they found two M134 machine guns, ten P90 sub machine guns, twelve 9mm Berettas, twelve Riot helmets and bullet proof vests.
All in all a very good haul to add to their two cargo pods of computer gear and general furniture.
Squirrel fetched the truck while Amanda placed a call to Hypercomputers External Security Department. She informed them of the time their truck would be leaving and that is was likely that one of the street gangs would try and attack it. Thus a chance to primitively strike at a gang which might be causing problems to some of their own supplies.
So they team set off with the first run and load of stuff to take down to Nemo, and sure enough a bike gang moved in behind them getting ready to make its move. When 6 black sedans moved to flank the bikers and cut them down with cross fire.
By the time they unloaded the truck and returned for the second load, the bikers where being cleared away and they were forced to take a slight detour. This was reported in the news as “A number of Biker Gang members were detained for questioning.”
The second load to Nemo went without a hitch.
Amanda discovered that while she had been away, there had been a gun battle in the lobby of the building where she works and a number of Hypercomputer security people had been hurt. Two died.
Many of those returning to work were reassigned by Michael to lower risk jobs, while they recovered and fresh people were rotated into the lobby duties.
Amanda had an idea about her cyber leg and the spare space in her shin area. She asked Squirrel to get some memory off the black market and then let him and Simonsson install it into her leg. Thus boosting her memory capacity by 17TB. They have called they new invention a Leg of Ram.
Trey on the other hand got a call from Ultratech how wanted him to look into one of their newer employees, because they suspected he might be a corporate spy. This turned out to be true and it seemed he was spying on Ubercorp before them. Digging a little deeper they suspected he was working for Hypercomputers. But the proof of his actions was going to be in his laptop.
They got a knock out drug from Doctor Simonsson, and Trey and Squirrel went to “Mug” him as he left for work in the morning. However this didn’t go completely to plan and Trey’s left arm was broken, when they found out the spy was very skilled at unarmed combat. But in the end they drugged him and stole his laptop, watch etc
After hacking the laptop they found the proof they needed and handed over the relevant stuff to Ultratech and as per Ubercorps requests destroyed any files of theirs.
Squirrel took Trey to the hospital to get his arm set, but instead Trey opted for an upgrade, and had the arm removed in favour of a Neo-limb 1000.
To be continued…
While Amanda recovered in hospital she filed her final medical reports to Micheal and took some holidays to recover more fully.
Nemo informed Trey that while Drake would pay the insurance claim on the missing goods, they wouldn’t do so until they were able to find the culprit and could make a larger claim against whoever was stealing the stock in the first place.
After doing some investigations at their end, the team realised they would need to go to the Polestar 6 Colony. Nemo also informed them, that while not broke, the missing stock would take time to replace, because of the assets he had used up to buy the goods in the first place. So 2.5 days latter they arrive at Polestar and started to investigate into their missing gear.
Squirrel and Mason found a contact that was willing to sell them one of the missing computer cores, while Trey and Amanda found a truck driver selling their desks and bed. They also found the value of fresh fruit and late night junk foods.
A little more digging and some use of a tracker allowed them to find the shuttle along with a lot of their missing gear.
The shuttles crew was 5 people, one of which was built up so much he had trouble moving around. After Mason shot him in the chest they found out he was armoured. After a short but bloody gun fight, they took out 4 of the crew and captured the pilot, without any casualties.
The pilot’s name is Geoff Barklay, and they left him along with some evidence of the thefts where he could be found, while they stole the Shuttle and booked Hyper flight passage back to Earthstone. Amanda downloaded some piloting skills to make the flight.
Arriving back at Earthstone they birthed the Shuttle at the Space port.
To be continued….
Archangel Michael gave some data requests to Amanda. He wanted her to update the personal medical records of everyone in the Internal Security Affairs department.
Nemo contacted Trey and asked him to arrange a security escort for some good arriving at the space port. So with Squirrel driving the truck they all went to the Space port. However when the checked their cargo pod they found it largely empty. Someone having looted the cargo Pod before it arrived, leaving only 3 single bed kits.
While returning with the pod, the truck was attacked by a gang using 2 bikers and 2 vans.
The bikers where quickly dispatched by Mason and Amanda, and a sudden break sent one of the vans into a bike. The remaining van’s passenger armed with a machine gun was shooting up the back of the truck. While Mason and Amanda made their way to the back to return fire one of the tires was shot out making the truck swerve.
Amanda fell over and fired her gun. Shooting herself in the left leg. The wound turned out to be bad enough to cost her the leg. However Nemo and Simonsson where able to fund and get her a new Cyberleg
To be continued….
The following few days return to more or less normal for the characters. Carlowe gets a job following a man whose wife suspects he is cheating. He turned out to be getting dance lessons for their up coming anniversary. Trey got a job looking for a missing child. Who turned up in a body bag minus his cyber legs and suffering a lot of internal brain damage. Squirrel was set a few tasks by Nemo collecting parts and installing a main power line and internet line for Nemo. As well as a couple of security cameras so he could see some of his surroundings.
Amanda on the other hand found that one of her workmates suffered a change of mood and suddenly became unreliable at work until it reached a point where he was fired. In looking into his disappearance, they found him dead. It turned out his was using a new form of Cyber drug called Blue Heaven. This is what killed the boy Trey found as well.
To be continued….
This session started with the Introduction of Amanda Jones to the net and her having to dig her way out of her “Office” Soon after she got a copy of Guard Dog, Avatar Editor, and Maidservice.
Meanwhile Trey, Squirrel, Carlowe and Mason set up the job for Nemo. After having cased the Hypercomputer’s warehouse, Squirrel opened up some access through the roof. He then set about getting a Taser gun to use to stun the two guards. However when he and Carlowe entered the warehouse and tried to use the gun, Carlowe accidentally shot Squirrel and was forced to use hand to hand to knock the first guard out. This alerted the other guard which Mason was then forced to shoot in the head.
Moving as quick as they could, they all entered the warehouse. Mason got a truck, while Trey got a forklift and Carlowe revived Squirrel.
They loaded a pallet of electrical odds and sods which Squirrel needed to use to pay for the Taser, and the crate Nemo wanted.
Mason got the truck moving following the direction on a PDA program Nemo had supplied them with. Carlowe sat up front, but Trey stayed on the forklift and Squirrel sorted his little pallet of booty.
Meanwhile Amanda followed their truck via the tracker Trey was carrying. However she couldn’t go with them as they soon entered the 4th level of the city. She then slowly lost track as they went deeper and deeper in to the city.
To the surprise of the people in the truck the city is not 6 levels deep, but in fact has at least 8 levels. The 7th and 8th levels seem to be clear of the smog layer. When the truck arrived at the end of the map, they found Doctor Simonsson waiting for them.
They unloaded Nemo’s crate and opened it. Inside they found part of a new model of A.I. its CTPU. On the side was a plaque with Neural, Engineered, Machine, Organism.
They had in fact liberated Nemo from Hypercomputers. It’s is the first free A.I. After organising a retainer deal they all returned to the upper city.
To be continued……..
After a quick recap of the first session, play began with Squirrel and Jones, discussing what they would need for the job and how they should get it.
They looked at the details of the job, which was to acquire a large piece of computer hardware, which in itself weighed around 2 ton, so it would need to be loaded and unloaded with a forklift.
As the warehouse with the hardware also has such forklifts it was decided they could steal one and load it and the hardware onto a truck, which in turn meant the truck would have to be able to handle around 5 to 6 tons.
Because the escape route would take them through the 4th level of the city in places, oxygen masks would also be needed.
They also knew the job might require some talent for removing guards, and or security measures.
So they would need people to drive the truck and forklift, sneak, shoot, and serve as lookout. So they put the work out discreetly to find a couple of extra people.
The first to reply was Mason who said he could shoot and drive a truck. So the arranged to met him. They were happy to hire Mason and during the meeting Squirrel got another phone call, this time from Miyuki. After a little talk they arranged to meet with her.
So half an hour later they watched her red motorbike pull into the car park of a café and they sat down to chat.
During the meeting however around 30 members of the Green Hand Gang saw Miyuki’s bike and set fire to it before going in search of the rider. After trying to get away from them to start with Miyuki decided to try and steal a Green hand Gang member’s bike to make her get away. When this failed she had to hoof it with several members after her.
In the end they all got away when the Red Gloves Gang arrived from one direction, and the local corporate police arrived from the other.
When the met up the next day, they realized that they still didn’t have a forklift driver, so Jones went to “Top Hat” and brought an avatar editor for himself and used a little of Nemo’s money to buy “So you want to be a Forklift driver.”
With these installed he was able to change his avatar to that of a large coin with a question make on one side and blank on the other, and gain the ability to drive a forklift right away.
While all this was going on Carlowe had gotten hold of 5 breathing masks each with around 12 hours air supply.
To be continued…….
This being the start of the campaign the first part of the session was spent explaining the game world somewhat to the players. Then Trey started off by waking up in the hospital just after having gotten his DataLink implant. He also met his new Doctor, Doctor Simonson. The Squirrel was sent by "Boss" to look in of a loan client who had failed to make a payment. This turned out to be a guy suffering from Cyber-psychosis. Carlowe got a job from Biomed to find out if a gang new about one of their agents. In confirming this Carlowe was hired by the Gang to take out the Cyber-nut. This he did but in reporting it all to Biomed they sent in Black Suits as cleaners to get ride of the gang and destroy any evidence.
In the end Trey found out Doctor Simonson works for someone called Nemo who wants to hire all three of them to acquire some gear for him.
