| In 2001 / 2002 season Parramatta City
Swim Club celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Of the functions held during the
year, the highlight was definitely Anniversary dinner held at Parramatta
Leagues Club on 18 October 2001.
Members from every era of the
club’s history attended. Even a few past members of the Granville Swimming
Club that existed from 1936 to 1951 were also in attendance.

The highlight of the night was the recollections from past
and present members.
These included, Dave Ramsey
(a member of the Granville Swimming Club in the 1940’s),
Janice Gustard (Crosio) (Federal MP and a member in the 1950’s) and
Paul Garrard (Lord Major of Parramatta and past Club President) and Doug
Smith (Club President).
|
| During the night a trivia quiz on the club was conducted.
This proved a great success as past members dredged up memories of the
club’s history. |
 |
 |
On display during the evening was a wide range of club
memorabilia. A number of old members were seen
searching on trophies and the club records for their names.
Others took to finding and comparing race recording cards with friends and
families. |
| Many photographs where taken of the
night. Those showing members from the different decades, starting from the
1950's can be seen on this page.
Anyone interested in viewing photos taken on the night
should contact

Much thanks must be given for those who brought raffle
tickets. Over $350 was raised for CANTEEN.
This charity is very special to the club as one of our
recent past Club Captains was fighting cancer at the time of the dinner.
Unfortunately Emma lost here battle with the disease in May 2002. |
|
Each family that attended the evening received a specially struck 50th
Anniversary Medallion.
Many thanks must go to Parramatta City Council and Parramatta Leagues
Club without whose help the dinner would not have been possible.
