"Farewell to 1936 Pool" Celebration

On April 6th 2003, Parramatta City Swim Club conducted the
last carnival in the original 1936 pool at Granville Swimming Centre. After the
carnival, a function was held for past and present members of the club, as well
as other people that have had a long association with Granville Pool.

The function celebrated the wonderful service the original
pool has provided to residents of Granville and Western Sydney since it was
opened on the 10 October 1936.
Much thanks must go to the Lord Mayor of Parramatta and
past president of the club, Mr Paul Garrard and the staff of Parramatta Council
for their help organising the event.

It was good to see so many past members attend the
celebration. It is hoped that they will also be able to attend the celebration
that will be held when the new centre opens in 2004.
