Granville Pool's Redevelopment

Work started on the redevelopment of Granville Pool in late March 2004.

The major changes to the Swimming Centre that were made included:

  • Demolition of the 1936 Olympic and "babies" pool

  • An expansion of internal grounds to incorporate the adjoining former Lawn Bowls Club greens,

  • New entry/reception/café building,

  • Refurbishment of the rear 50m pool which will include new starting blocks and "wet-deck" pool edging

  • Construction of a new outdoor 25m by 10m lap pool with a linked 10m by 10m learn to swim/program pool,

  • Construction of a new, large outdoor leisure pool with beach entry,

  • Redevelopment of the existing building for changing rooms and other amenities,

  • All new water treatment and filtration systems which will be located underground,

  • Shade structures, seating and landscaped areas.
