Lake Parramatta Open Water

On 26 June 2006, Parramatta City Council decided to reopen Lake Parramatta for swimming during "organised events".

The first of these was to be held on 3rd December 2006, when Parramatta City Swim Club will conduct the " Lake Parramatta Cup" in conjunction with the Parramatta Council's Freshwater Festival. This would be the first time in more than 35 years the Lake will be open for swimming.

Due to inclement weather leading up to the event, it was necessary to close the lake for all swimming on the day. The club is working with the Council to determine another suitable date for this event.

Location

Lake Parramatta is located some 2.2km North of Parramatta Station. The entry to the Lake Parramatta is via Lackey Street, North Parramatta.

See Sydways Map 252 P5

Off-street parking for the event will be available off Bourke Street, just outside the gates to the park.
