Sensual Image consists of husband and wife team Iain and Trish Burgess. Iain takes the photographs whilst Trish does the make-up artistry, body-painting and makes the costumes. We are a fully registered company, ABN number: 78 682 996 404.
We are not full time photographers, we only do photo sessions on weekends and evenings, that means that we are available when you are available. We are not a production line photography studio, booking 1-2 hour sessions day in and day out, you benefit from the fact that we only take one booking per evening or day, and we concentrate on your shoot. Our prices are also more reasonable, whilst we don't have the bulk buying power of the large studio, we also don't have the overheads. In the end, we use the same professional laboratories and printers as they do, our equipment used to take the photos is similar and even better than many of the larger studios. The only difference is that you get the benefits of a better price, a more flexible approach and a team that is focussed on your shoot only, not wondering about the next one in the waiting room.
Our studio is at our home, we have built a special studio with all the normal studio features and more, and all the studio images in the gallery were taken in our studio. We don't pay thousands of Dollars out each month on a studio with marble floors, fancy waiting rooms and receptionists. You end up paying for that - what we do is produce great photos.
We are also enjoy travelling to locations and take photos of you and your loved ones in a natural bush, beach or rainforest setting. We also enjoy doing fantasy shoot, dressing up in costumes for a special event.
We shoot on both digtial and Medium Format Film cameras. Have you ever wondered why the large photos you see in the Department Store and Pharmacy beauty counters are so clear when compared to your own photos? Those photos are almost certainly taken on Medium Format or Large Format cameras. The same type of film is used as with normal 35mm, but the negatiges are 5 -10 times larger. We use one of the best Medium Format systems ever developed - the Mamiya RB67. You don't find these cameras in your local camera store; they are the workhorse cameras of professional photographers around the world.
We prefer to shoot both digital and Medium Format film in a session, enabling you to have enlargements up to 100cmx100cm if you so wish. The advantages to digital photography is that you can see the photos immediately, and and choose the ones you want before you go home, the larger Medium format film takes longer to process and scan, but we feel this adds to the experience of the photos session, the anticipation of the results, the choosing of the prints, it's all part of the experience.
