GORDIE

Male Poodle X Spaniel

Aged approx. 2 years

Medium size

Gordie is looking for a very special home because he suffers with separation anxiety. Gordie has been in foster care with a dog trainer for a long period of time. His trainer has been walking Gordie for two hours a day everyday rain, hail or shine, plus he has time on the doggy treadmill and still has more energy left in his tank. Gordie has also been taken to training classes in the local area and is excelling because he is a very smart dog who learns everything asked of him quickly. Gordie's foster carer/trainer now feels that he is as ready as he will ever be to go on to a new home. We want his new home to be forever and not just another step in the wrong direction as has been the case in Gordie's past life. Gordie's trainer believes that a home on a dog safe property on acreage with other dogs to play and exercise with will suit him as he does do well in a pack situation. A suburban block of land with a fence all around is not going to suit Gordie at all as he will become bored and bark and be a very unhappy dog. Gordie's new owners must also be 'home bodies' not working people because his anxiety levels are raised when he is without his humans. An active retiree, single person or couple is going to work best for Gordie and of course it goes without saying that he must always have access to his humans via a doggy door or similar 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Gordie has a beautiful temperament and loves playing with his toys and doggy friends. It is going to take someone who is very committed to Gordie's routine and exercise program so a home with someone experienced will be the best for him moving forward. Gordie has a high maintenance coat that will require regular clipping and grooming.

Gordie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $400 and is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). If you would like more information on Gordie, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. Before phoning or emailing, please check Denise's rescued dogs in foster care on www.paws.com.au for any updated photos and to make sure this dog is still available for adoption.

NELSON

Male Shih Tzu X Maltese

Aged approx. 18 months

Small size

What a funny little fellow! Nelson is all boy with the strut and the barrel chest and takes his job of watching the neighbours VERY seriously. He LOVES a walk, investigating everything on the way, and his recall off-lead is incredible. If you call his name he stops what he is doing and races back to you, tail carried high with the excitement of the adventure. Nelson came into the system in a terrible state, horribly neglected and unwell, but there is no more of that nonsense for this little man as life is for living. Nelson adores humans and would be quite happy to hang out with you. He has been temperament tested with children and his foster carer believes he would do best with children over 9 years old who would love and cuddle him and take him everywhere. Nelson love to 'ride' bikes, 'play' cricket and go to the river (he rocks the dog paddle!) with them. He isn't a fussy eater, sleeps all night happily without a peep, is good in the car and 100% housetrained. Nelson has had all of his routine surgery but also needed to have a rogue baby tooth removed that wasn't where it should be. He also had surgery for entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow and rub onto the surface of the eye. This would have been very painful for Nelson but it has been fixed now and will not reoccur.  Nelson is a house dog with a coat that will grow and require regular grooming.

Nelson comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes his collar and harness. Nelson is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). If you would like more information on Nelson, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. Before phoning or emailing, please check Denise's rescued dogs in foster care on www.paws.com.au for any updated photos and to make sure this dog is still available for adoption.

TEMPORARILY WITHDRAWN

NIKKI

Female English Staffy X Puppy

Aged approx. 7 weeks

Medium size (when fully grown)

Nikki was taken out of Campbelltown Pound under of 'duty of care' after she was found dumped in a local park at 5 weeks of age. Nikki went straight to the vet from the Pound who discovered something was not quite right with one of her back legs. An x-ray was performed which showed that Nikki  has a fractured tibia (broken leg). It was also discovered that Nikki had two parasitic viruses (coccidiosis and giardia) as well as a urinary tract infection. After a few months in care Nikkiís leg is fully healed and she is clear of all viruses and infections. Nikki is now happy and health and ready for a home of her own. She is full of energy and loves nothing more then wrestling and rumbling with her foster brother Jake, a large Staffy X. Nikki is only small but has a big personality so will need a home with a family who will continue her training and give her enough exercise and stimulation to keep her out of trouble. Another dog for company is a must and we believe a male would be best as Nikki can be a little bossy sometimes, particularly with her female counterparts. Being a young, energetic, sometimes over enthusiastic puppy we believe a home with no young children would best suit Nikki as she does nip and jump (quite high). Nikki is good both on and off leash, can sit, stay and drop and is great to train as she is highly food motivated.

JAGGER  AND  HARPER

Male and Female Purebred Maltese

Aged approx. 8 years and 7 years

Small size

Harper and Jagger are extremely sweet and gentle little dogs that are both house trained, follow basic commands and are inseparable so it appears that was the case before they came into the care of
PAWS. They have spent significant time with their foster carer's grandchildren and were very playful and friendly but protective of their environment and of their carer. They are definitely not 'yappy' and very obedient and both are highly intelligent. It is absolutely essential that Harper and Jagger be rehomed together, preferably without other dogs or perhaps with an older dog. They are very timid, if not fearful, of their foster carer's dogs, and spend the majority of their time with their carer, having made their way from their bed to hers! They love to snuggle and it took a little while for this delightful duo to gain some confidence but, in that time, both have blossomed and their personalities have become distinct but one commonality is that both are extremely loving. Harper likes to take the lead and makes sure that she sleeps closest to her foster carer, whilst Jagger happily plays 'the underdog' sleeping further away. Another example, is that when they are fed in separate bowls, Jagger waits for Harper to begin eating before he partakes. Initially they were somewhat undernourished so currently enjoy three meals a day however this will be cut back to twice daily feeding as soon as optimum weight is gained. Harper isn't very interested in playing with toys and prefers tummy rubs, petting, and as much attention that she can muster from her carer, however she is definitely not demanding. On the other hand, Jagger loves to play 'fetch' and chew on his toys. Both Harper and Jagger can be energetic but they do prefer to relax and Jagger especially likes to watch TV! Their foster carer believes that these little beauties will make a wonderful addition to their forever home. Harper and Jagger are house dogs with coats that will grow and require regular grooming and clipping.

MANDY

Female Purebred Miniature Poodle

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Mandy was surrendered because she was too active for her previous owner's elderly Poodle. She is in foster care with a male Poodle and he and Mandy play continuously throughout the day, only stopping for a short rest and then off they go again. Mandy is an active girl so a home where she is going to have regular walks and another dog to play with is needed as a human will not suffice! Mandy gets along extremely well with other dogs and enjoys the good things in life (like a couch to sit on and a lap to cuddle up on) so a home where she has indoor access is essential. Mandy is house trained and has a high maintenance coat that will require regular grooming and clipping to keep her looking and feeling great.

Mandy comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $450 and the adoption fee includes her collar and harness. Mandy is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). If you would like more information on Mandy, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. GWEN AND STEFFIE

Female Purebred Long Haired Chihuahuas

Aged approx. 9 and 8 years

Small size

Gwen and Steffie have had a bit of a rough road over the past couple of months but it is great to see that they are now really starting to turn a corner! After being saved from a long stay in the Pound and then having several major operations, these two sweet girls are coming out of their shell and would make delightful company for any loving owner. Although they might be small in size they are big in affection, Steffie in particular will be straight on your lap for cuddles any moment you take to put your feet up, while Gwen will appreciate any neck scratch or chin rub you can spare the time to give. These two dogs love being outdoors investigating and again, although small in size. can easily go for a 2 kilometre walk and still have energy to bounce around the house all day! Gwen is a creature of habit being quite an old dog as she likes her things in their place and doesn't like change. She sleeps in her dog basket every night, isn't interested in being on the furniture (beds or sofa) and mostly keeps herself to herself, although is very appreciate of affection and love if you go to her. Steffie is definitely the more bouncy of the two and will follow you round all day long looking for tummy rubs, then be on the sofa with you falling asleep on your belly or jumping round like a bouncy ball to greet you every time you get home from work. Due to these two dogs turbulent past, please expect them to take up to two weeks to get used to a new home. You will probably find they won't want to interact with you at the beginning and this is to be expected due to their ever changing surroundings recently, so don't be alarmed if they show no interest in forming a bond for a little while. They are best left by themselves and not rushed into affection as this can evoke a scared reaction from them to people they don't know due to unfamiliar territory. For this reason, these dogs would not be suitable for a home with young children (under the age of 16) or an environment with either other cats or dogs. These two dogs really need their prospective new owner to win their trust. At first Steffie can be very standoffish and quite frankly a bit snappy BUT she has proven on several occasions that, if you take the time to win her round, she will quickly become your best friend and start to follow you round for cuddles and lots of love. These two little dogs act as fantastic guard dogs, being quite noisy when they think the house is being approached (but not at any other time). They are more than happy being left in each other's company during the day so could go to a home with either a single or a couple who work full time but they still must have the time to give them a minimum of a 20-30 minute walk every day (if not ideally twice) and lots of love and attention in the evenings and weekends. Fully house trained, these two are a dream when it comes to toilet habits! Due to these dogs being the adventurous type and very small, you must ensure that all fencing is properly secured otherwise these two can double up as doggy escape artists!

Gwen and Steffie come desexed, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of $500 THE PAIR and this includes their collar and harness. Gwen and Steffie are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT) and have also both had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic) and hernia removal. If you would like more information on Gwen and Steffie, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. Before phoning or emailing, please check Denise's rescued dogs in foster care on www.paws.com.au for any updated photos and to make sure this dog is still available for adoption.

SOPHIE

Female Purebred Miniature Poodle

Aged approx. 5 years

Small size

Sophie is a darling little girl who adores other dogs and makes herself quite at home with them. She is starting to show a cheeky personality and being playful on her foster carer's arrival home (while still keeping a little distance) so her carer is pleased at her progress. Sophie comes to her foster family members for a cuddle and, when you are sitting down, is there with the other dogs for her pat so is becoming very affectionate in comparison to the frightened little girl who first came to stay. Sophie loves raw puppy mince, chicken, doggy bone biscuits, chicken and vegetable loaf, has started eating normal dog biscuits and also enjoys a hide chew. She is learning to walk on a lead (which is a big step for her) and after a bit more practice will learn it is a lovely experience. Sophie was a breeding dog in her previous life and is learning what life is like as a pampered pooch with other doggy friends to play with. She will only be rehomed with another small friendly dog for company and to a home where she will have indoor access to her bed at all times.  Sophie will make a wonderful addition to a Poodle friendly family with a quieter home and no small children, or a retired couple who have another dog for Sophie to cuddle up with. Most importantly. she needs someone who will understand and have patience with a dog who is just learning what being a dog in a family environment is all about.

Sophie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes her collar and harness. Sophie has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic and is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). TEMPORARILY WITHDRAWN

CASSANDRA

Female Silky Terrier X Maltese

Aged approx. 8 years

Small size

Cassandra came from the Pound a very sick, sad and sorry dog. The vet noticed that she was passing a lot of urine and blood so an ultrasound was done to diagnose exactly what was going on in her bladder. Cassandra was carrying a stone in her bladder (pictured below) that was almost as large as her entire bladder and she was in incredible pain and discomfort. Cassandra has had surgery to remove the bladder stone, along with a major dental as her mouth was also putrid. While doing the ultrasound to look at her bladder it was also discovered that Cassandra has a tumour on her spleen. Tumours on the spleen are usually benign but as we are looking to rehome Cassandra we canít wait to see what develops. Once she has recovered from her bladder surgery in 4-6 weeks time she will have a splenectomy (surgery to remove her spleen completely). Cassandra is another dog who has been terribly neglected in her past life and we are endeavouring to put an end to the years of neglect she has previously suffered and hope to find her a wonderful home once she has recovered from her next surgery. Despite her condition, Cassandra is very grateful for the attention she is receiving and rewards everyone with a wagging tail and a big kiss. Both of these surgeries come with a high price tag so all donations to assist Cassandra's vet fees will be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE 29 JULY: Cassandra has been diagnosed with a Portosystemic Liver Shunt (more info at www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/portosystemic-shunt-in-dogs/857 ) and will be having surgery in two week's time. She needs to gain some weight before then and is on a strict diet of Hills Prescription L/D (liver health diet). SASH (Sydney Small Animal Specialist Hospital) are doing the surgery which will be performed by Dr Andrew Marchevsky. Cassandra is a very sick girl at the moment due to the stress on her body caused from the shunt and she is on anti-convulsing medication plus two other drugs in preparation for the surgery. Dogs with liver shunts can suffer with seizures before and after surgery so the specialist wants to get the medication into her system two weeks prior as a precaution. Cassandra will also have her spleen removed while under anaesthetic for the liver shunt surgery and, once she has recovered, will feel like an entirely different dog!

JACQUES

Male Shih Tzu X Maltese

Aged approx. 6 years

Small size

Jacques is a beautiful boy whose owner unfortunately had a change of circumstances so had to surrender him for rehoming. Jacques is in foster care with two other small dogs and he really enjoys having them around. He is great with humans of all ages and other dogs so his new home must have another small and friendly dog currently living in the home as Jacques does not like to be left at home on his own without a dog for company. He sleeps on his foster carer's bed and does not make a peep all night long. Jacques loves to go to the off leash park and runs around with the other dogs having an absolute ball. Jacques is a house dog that is house trained and he and must have indoor access via a doggy door or similar. Jacques has a coat that will grow and require regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling great.

EDEN

Male Shih Tzu X

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Eden is a very cute little dog who found himself impounded at the tender age of 12 months. Eden was probably bought by a family as a young puppy but the love affair with puppyhood doesn't always last very long with the dog ending up in the backyard all alone, unloved and bored until the little dog finds an escape route and ends up in the Pound. Eden's foster carer thinks he is a lovely little boy. He is very playful, loves his toys and enjoys having a romp with the other dogs he is in care with. Eden would love a home with another friendly, playful dog of similar size and age, a family with older children who would play with him or a retired couple. He is getting along nicely with his house training and will require access inside and out via a doggy door. Eden will enjoy going out for walks to the park and cuddles with his family and has a coat that will grow and require regular grooming.

UPDATE 29 JULY: Eden was taken to Dr Alison (one of the Opthalmologists at SASH (Sydney Small Animal Specialist Hospital) for a diagnosis on his eye. Eden has been on medication for his eye since coming from Renbury Farm Pound but, as things were not improving, we felt a specialist visit was appropriate. Dr Alison believes that Eden has suffered with trauma to his eye at some stage before he came to us as his eye is very red and quite painful at the moment. If we do nothing he will continue to be in pain and will develop glaucoma so the best option for Eden is to have his eye removed. We want what is best for him so will go ahead with the surgery next week. Eden will feel so much better once he has recovered and can then go to a new home.

CHLOE

Female Silky Terrier X

Aged approx. 4 years

Small size

Chloe is an energetic but gentle girl who likes to run and chase birds one minute and then come in for a cuddle the next.  She is currently living with a male Jack Russell Terrier that she happily has adventures with in the backyard. Chloe is very tolerant of children but can be tentative around loud noises or new faces. She loves going for walks but her style needs some refining as she is very eager to lead the way. Chloe has learnt to use the doggy door, sleeps all night through and is fully house trained. She is extremely affectionate, enjoys cuddles, pats, hugs and kisses and loves nothing better than to hang out with her foster carer wherever she goes. Chloe is a good eater and eagerly devours whatever is put in front of her. She enjoys watching television, and is most observant, letting the family know with an excited bark when she has spotted a dog or other four legged creature on screen!  Chloe can apparently do high fives, shake hands and other tricks like chasing balls and her carer has had some success with these tricks when Chloe is excited. All In all, Chloe is a lovely girl that may start out shy in new environments but soon feels at home once she has worked out the routine so will fit perfectly into most families. Chloe has beautiful sandy brown hair which does not shed but will require the occasional brush through.

Chloe comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes her collar and harness. Chloe has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic) and is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). ATTICUS

Male Terrier X Puppy

Aged approx. 4 months

Small size (when fully grown)

Atticus is a very curious little puppy that loves to investigate everything going on around him, sticking his little nose into all sorts of places. Atticus is in foster care with three other dogs and enjoys playing with them one at a time until he has worn them all out, then it's time for him to sleep. Atticus' foster family have loads of toys for him and he goes through them one by one picking out his favourites. He is very good with children (but does not live with them) and is learning basic commands and how to use the doggy door. Atticus is doing very well with his house training but is not yet completely trained in that respect. His new home must have another small and friendly dog already living there as we will not rehome Atticus as an 'only' puppy since his life would be too lonely and he needs to enjoy life as a puppy should. A home where there are some older children to play with Atticus would also be great for him and he would benefit from some puppy school training. Atticus is a house dog so must have indoor access via a doggy door and sleep inside. His coat is low maintenance and only requires a regular bath, brush and trim.

Atticus comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention, with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes his collar and harness. ABBIE

Female Maltese X

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Abbie is a sweet and charming young dog who is very easy to love. She loves to cuddle and will reward your affection by rolling on her back and displaying a big toothy grin. She has quickly learnt to put her past behind her and has grown up a lot in the last few weeks with her foster carer's assistance. Abbie is however, still learning to overcome some fears that she has with new experiences and surroundings. At home Abbie is a well-mannered indoor dog having no issues with apartment living and is house trained as long as she gets regular access to toileting - and to yummy chews!  At the moment Abbie is having both morning and night trips to the dog park where her Terrier genes come out as she enjoys running around off-leash and burning up energy. Abbie is still learning to socialise with other dogs but she's a fast learner and so far is doing really well. She appears to be a medium energy level dog so regular walks are a must. Abbie would suit either a house or an apartment and will only be rehomed with another small, friendly dog for company. Abbie is currently learning basic obedience commands and is responsive to handling so will do well with continued training. In order to bring out the best in her, there should be another well-balanced dog in her new home so that she can continue to learn from a stable role model. Abbie has a soft, wiry coat that is low maintenance and non shedding so just needs a regular brush and tidy up to keep her looking and feeling great.

Abbie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes her collar and harness. Abbie is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). If you would like more information on Abbie please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. Before phoning or emailing, please check Denise's rescued dogs in foster care on www.paws.com.au for any updated photos and to make sure this dog is still available for adoption.

EMMIE

Female Purebred Maltese

Aged approx. 7 years

Small size

Emmie's foster carer says that she is a delightful little dog and a joy to have around her home. Life for Emmie was pretty tough in her previous life and she came from the Pound severely matted to the point that it was difficult for her to walk properly and also severely underweight.  Emmie had her matted coat clipped off, she has gained weight and now thoroughly enjoys life with two other small dogs and a lovely family.  Emmie is a very playful girl who really enjoys cuddles, playing, food, cuddles again and the more the merrier.  Emmie walks well on the lead and enjoys a stroll to the park in the afternoon. She is house trained, doesn't dig, rarely barks and gets along with the other dogs and the family cat. Emmie is a very affectionate dog who would love a home with people who are around quite a bit and who have another small, friendly dog. Emmie is not suitable to a home where she would be an only dog.  Emmie is a house dog, uses a doggy door and sleeps all night long.  She has a coat that will grow and require regular grooming to keep her looking and  feeling great.

DAD AND DAVE

Male Maltese X

Aged approx. 5 and 4 years

Small size

Dad and Dave were surrendered as a messy, shaggy dog story ..... dirty, terrified, neglected and frightened and they both shook and cringed when someone new came by. Gradually with lots of TLC they have relaxed into a happy place and now enjoy the finer things of life like company, good food and a warm place to sleep. Dave (the handsome boy toward the front of the photo) is a happy, fairly confident dog who likes going for walks and chewing bones and he is quite sociable and friendly. Dad (his father) is only about a year older but is less confident. He has relaxed in foster care but can be more fearful of new people and situations and prefers to relax in the yard while Dave goes for a walk. Dad and Dave will follow you round the house, sleep together, romp and play together and constantly keep each other company. They have also already learned to obey simple commands. Dad and Dave are probably Maltese X Italian Greyhounds because they lope along like greyhounds! They are a lovely pair and will only be rehomed together as Dad seems to need Dave to give him confidence. As they learn to enjoy the good life, Dad and Dave are sure to become pleasant companions in a home where they have the freedom just to be themselves. Dad and Dave are house trained, enjoy their food and quietly sleep together in a pile on their bed in the lounge room. They both have coats that will require regular grooming to keep them looking and feeling great.

Dad and Dave come desexed, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention for the special adoption fee of
$550 THE PAIR
and this includes their collar and harness.
Dad and Dave are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT) and have also both had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). If you would like more information on Dad and Dave, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. KASEY

Female Purebred Maltese

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Kasey is a sweet natured, young lady who is loyal and affectionate. Although she loves to play with her foster carer's own dog and would enjoy the fun and games, Kasey does not have to go to a home with another small dog. However, as she is only young, Kasey would not suit a home where she would just be left alone for long periods of time on a regular basis as she would become bored and lonely. Kasey is house trained and learning to walk on a lead. It seems that in her past life she had never been taken out but she seems to be a quick learner.

ISABELLA

Female Tibetan Spaniel X

Aged approx. 6 years

Small size

Isabella is a delightful little 'no fuss' girl! She is happy pottering around the garden and house by herself but unfortunately she can be a little stubborn when it comes to walks .... she just point blank refuses which makes us think she was never walked before. Isabella is a quiet girl and so a quiet home would be best. She doesn't need another dog for company as long as she has her humans around so would suit someone that works from home or retirees. Isabella is in a home with other dogs at the moment and gets on fine with them. She has a mild heart murmur that doesn't require treatment now and would just need monitoring going forward. Isabella also has some arthritis in her back knees because she has slightly bandy legs so a course of cartrophen once a year and a suitable diet would keep this in check for her.

Isabella  comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes her collar and harness. Isabella is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT) has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic). OLIVER

Male Maltese X

Aged approx. 2 years

Small size

Hands up who wants the best little dog in the world? Oliver is gorgeous; smart, funny, sweet, snuggly and no fuss at all. He thoroughly enjoys a walk, has fun meeting new people and dogs, is great on the lead and his carer thinks he will have 100% recall in no time at all. Did we mention he is smart? Oliver responds beautifully to positive reinforcement training, picking up a heaps of new skills in a short amount of time and all designed to turn him into the perfect little doggy companion. Oliver sleeps without a peep all night at the end of his carer's bed and is 100% housetrained ... his carer couldn't be prouder of him. He is still only a baby so he will need a family that is prepared to walk him regularly and keep him groomed so everyone at puppy park can admire him. Oliver would prefer to go with another small doggy companion or a retired person who is home during the day. He wouldn't like being on his own as he is far too social for that. If you would like to see more photos and follow his adventures, join him on Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/260015474148846/

MARCO

Male Poodle X Pomeranian

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Marco was a pet shop puppy who ended up living outside all by himself and missed out on things like house training, grooming, walks and playtime so he became a bored and lonely little boy.  Since Marco was surrendered he has been living in a foster home with other doggy playmates where he is learning lots of new social skills with both dogs and humans and having a wonderful time. Marco is very active and playful and just loves romping about and playing with the other dogs, which is a totally new experience for him. He is a bright, good natured little fellow with lots of energy and learns quickly. Marco was a bit insecure with strangers at first, especially men, but is getting better and now lines up for his cuddles when his carers come home from work and learning about couches and beds.  He is coming along with his house training but still likes to chew things (probably his way of coping when he was alone and bored) so needs lots of TLC and guidance as well as toys, exercise, chewies and company. Marco must go to a home with access to both inside and outside, sharing it with another friendly and active dog and getting lots of walks and cuddles. He is good to bath and brush and his coat will require regular grooming.

FRITZ

Male Dachshund X Pomeranian

Aged approx. 8 months

Small size

Fritz and his brother Otto were surrendered after the breakdown of their owner's relationship and he is the quieter and smaller of the pair. Fritz is all about the love! The shyer of the two boys, he loves cuddles and lots of them. Fritz also loves going on adventures, rumbling with his new doggy friends and sleeping soundly in his bed. Fritz can be a little unsure of himself in new scenarios and can use his voice to project those feelings but is learning that barking is not really necessary and to just chill out and enjoy life. Currently he is being house trained and this is progressing well. Fritz will need a family that is committed to continuing his training as he is only young and is very willing to learn. Another small dog for company is a must for Fritz as he is used to having a constant companion and would not cope as an only dog. Fritz has a short, shedding coat that requires a weekly brush to minimise the shedding.

OTTO

Male Dachshund X Pomeranian

Aged approx. 8 months

Small size

Otto and his smaller brother Fritz were surrendered after the breakdown of their owner's relationship. Otto is a bouncy boy with love to give and a voice that likes to be heard! He is the more confident of the two boys and would best suit a family committed to ongoing training. Otto has lots of energy and loves going on walks, chasing a ball and wrestling with his new doggy friends. He is very curious about the resident cat in his foster carer's home but is learning she is not for chasing! He is currently being house trained and this is progressing very well. Otto must go to a home with another small dog as he is used to the constant companionship. Otto has a short, shedding coat that requires a weekly brush to minimise the shedding

BENSON

Male Pomeranian X

Aged approx. 12 months

Small size

Benson is an excitable little dog who enjoys spending time with people so is probably more suited to living inside for this reason, as he'll want to be around you most of the time. When you haven't got the time to play with him, Benson is quite content to sit by you and wait till you're done, as long as you promise to give him a good belly rub or throw a ball with him later on! Benson loves walking and walks well on a lead but prefers a shorter walk, around 15 mins to half an hour. He is well behaved when walking so whenever he sees another dog he doesn't bark or pull on the lead. Because Benson loves human contact so much he requires something to distract him when you're not around. A kong filled with a treat will keep him occupied for a while, as will toys - he really loves squeaky toys. Benson will be suitable for a home that can spend time with him and would be perfect for a family with children aged 10 or older as a family pet. He is house trained and content to be inside with you.  Because of his high energy, an active owner would also be suitable. It is uncertain to the carer if Benson will be alright living with other dogs but when seeing them when out on walks he is completely fine. Because of his long coat, Benson may need to be groomed in the summer months and bathed at least once a week.

Benson comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention, with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes his collar and harness. Benson is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT) and has also had a recent dental (teeth cleaned under anaesthetic) and dew claw removal. If you would like more information on Benson, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. ARCHIE

Male Terrier X

Aged approx. 18 months

Small size

Archie is a VERY playful little boy with a cheeky yet loving demeanour. He has progressed exceptionally well during his short time in foster care so far, arriving a little sore and timid following major spinal surgery after being hit by a car. Through gentle play and walks Archie has grown stronger everyday, both physically and psychologically showing no or very minimal signs of injury now. He is steadily progressing on his house training and has begun to follow basic commands. As a learning puppy, Archie is also working on his socialisation skills with other dogs, being inquisitive and friendly towards most other dogs at this point. He is always up for a game or tummy rub and as a young dog he requires a good amount of mental stimulation, exercise and pats! Archie has also just had his coat clipped for summer and as his hair grows to a medium length it will require continual grooming. A house with another small dog (no big dogs as they may jump on his spine) and with owners that can provide a lot of attention, adequate exercise and love would be ideal for Archie. Once a level of trust is established between Archie and his carer, he proves to be a very loyal and fun-loving companion.

Archie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention, with NSW Local Council lifetime registration for $425 and the adoption fee includes his collar and harness. Archie is not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). If you would like more information on Archie, please email Denise using ADOPTION ENQUIRY as your Subject Heading. IVY

Female Maltese X

Aged approx. 8 years

Toy size

Ivy is a funny, dear sweet little soul that loves cuddles. When we rescued tiny Ivy from the Pound she had pneumonia and after a vet check was found to have a number of mammary tumours which would need to be removed over two surgeries. Ivy recovered from her pneumonia and on 16 October had the first of her surgeries where most of the tumours, including the largest one, were removed. She also lost some rotten teeth as well but is such a little fighter and has been a marvellous patient. Despite her tiny size, Ivy has such spirit and hasn't let this set her back. She loves a walk, enjoying getting out to see the world and to 'meet and greet' and have a sniff and a pee. In 4 - 6 weeks she will have the second of her operations to hopefully remove the rest of the lumps then, after her recovery, it is hoped we will be able to find her a new home where she can finally get that love and care she so richly deserves. Ivy loves to sleep on the bed and is coming along with her house training very well. She is best suited to a quiet home life with someone older and where she can go for a daily walk, maybe to the shops or around the block and then sit by your side to watch the world go by. Ivy would make a great companion and gets on well with other small dogs but isn't that keen on cats (who are usually bigger than she is!) She doesn't hurt the cats but she does bark at them. Hopefully someone will take Ivy into their home and into their heart. Obviously these surgeries are costly and any donations towards her care would be gratefully appreciated.
