Very good commanders and mages. Nine artifacts. A solid position, it's the DS equivalent of the Riders of Rohan (but you ride wargs, not horses). Use that stealth for agents and you can do well.

Led by the Third of the Nazgûl, the Dog Lord, the nation of Dendra Dwar is both deadly and growing. From his main fortress inside Mordor, the Dog Lord prepares his forces for their rightful ascendency in Ithilien and Rhovanion. Numerous dark Mages and deft Agents are in the Dog Lord's service, but his greatest potential lies in the able Commanders that handle his growing military might.

In fact, the martial traditions maintained by his Commanders are so competitive that new Dog Lord recruits start with a Training rank of 20. Additionally, Dog Lord troops without food will still gain 1-2 Morale points when stationary and will only lose 1-2 Morale points when traveling. Furthermore, Dog Lord troops only lose 1-2 Morale points for a Forced March (2-5 points without food).

The forces of the Dog Lord are aptly named because many of his troops ride the infamous war-dogs and war-wolves that Dendra Dwar breeds and trains. This ferocious cavalry rides as one of the premier mounted forces in northwestern Middle-earth. Supporting and maintaining this mounted force is facilitated by the unusual ability of all Dog Lord Mages to learn the lost Conjure Mounts spell.

The characters at the disposal of the Dog Lord are formidable. Dendra Dwar has been known to deal with many of his enemies by simply eliminating the source of the problem. The Dog Lord is not above arranging for his skilled characters to weaken his enemies by individual assassinations or personal challenges, or having his dark Agents strike at his enemy's settlements. As a result, new Dog Lord characters have a good chance of having a natural Stealth rank.

Until recently, the resources available within Mordor were sufficient for the Dog Lord's purposes. However, the need for more canine-mounts and other war materials has forced Dendra Dwar to look beyond his current haven and consider extending his domain's boundaries.

Expansion is not without its difficulties, however. The Dog Lord capital is strategically located at the gateway into Mordor. Guarding the junction at Morannon is critical to the defense of the entire region. Maintaining this defense can be made easier by coordinating with the Dark Lieutenants, the Ice King, and the Fire King. Therefore, care must be taken to avoid squabbling with these nations over possible settlements within Mordor.

Furthermore, to grow and establish settlements in the northern plains could result in immediate conflict with the Free Peoples - The growing Dog Lord armies may not yet be a match for the numbers the Free Peoples can muster. Also, the forces of Northern Gondor to the west, and perhaps even the neutral Rhûn Easterlings, are ready and willing to strike against any vulnerable holdings.
