Good commanders. One artifact. You have a good base and a wide open Rhovanion to expand into. If you can stay Neutral while the fighting shakes out, you will be able to out-spend everyone else. Of course that makes you a tempting target for Cloud Lord agents and the open nature of your kingdom makes it hard to defend. Still, if you stay in touch with your southern brethren, the Khand Easterlings, you have an excellent chance of eventual victory.

The nation of the Rhûn Easterlings refers to the collection of peoples who occupy the north central region of Middle-earth. This region encompasses part of Rhovanion and all the lands east and south of Rhûn. This diverse nation includes the tribes of the Sagath, Logath, Asdriags, Nuriags, and the Balchoth. Loosely led by Hûz III, the Rhûn Easterlings represent a nation with great potential but numerous pitfalls to overcome.

The greatest strength of the Rhûn Easterlings lies in their fierce and brave warriors, especially their much-feared cavalry. These savage troops move very fast and can patrol and protect the numerous holdings the Rhûn Easterlings control, scattered as they are all around Rhovanion and Rhûn. Daring leaders and an endless supply of these warriors make this mobile threat very real indeed. The quality of competition among potential Commanders allows new Rhûn Easterling Commanders to begin with a Command rank of up to 40.

Furthermore, due to the rich martial traditions of the indigenous peoples, Rhûn Easterling troops without food will still gain 1-2 Morale points when stationary and will only lose 1-2 Morale points when traveling. Furthermore, Rhûn Easterling troops only lose 1-2 Morale points for a Forced March (2-5 points without food). Additionally, the rugged nature of their wild lands results in many Rhûn Easterling characters having a chance of possessing greater Challenge ranks. This often makes them more deadly than appearances would indicate.

Their skilled Mages and numerous Emissaries try to make up for their lack of skilled Agents. Furthermore, the long-standing martial and nomadic traditions of the Rhûn Easterlings result in quality warriors, but little of anything else. Additionally, the abundant availability of resources in their recently acquired realm could provide the Rhûn Easterlings with a rich base for future growth. The prudent use of those resources allows for greater expansion and the possible acquisition of more skilled Emissaries and Agents.

The most difficult barriers to be overcome in the Rhûn Easterling's plans of conquest are the lack of central command and the dispersal of their forces over much of Middle-earth. Furthermore, numerous potential enemies border the Rhûn Easterling's realm. Poised along their borders are the Northmen, the Dwarves, the Long Rider, the Dog Lord, and the Dark Lieutenants. And the neutral Khand Easterlings to the south could present immediate or future difficulties. For these reasons, the decision to choose allegiance must be carefully considered. A choice made too early could cost the Rhûn Easterlings much of their realm.
