Faded plastics on these (after 26-odd years) is a problem.
The plastic side covers and headlight surround are particularly susceptable.. UV exposure really destroys the colouring in these. The answer is to sand off all the dead plastic. The guards were bad, but not that bad. The rear is very hard to source, so it simply must be done. The front is an RM item and yes, reproductions are available from various places.

The guards took alot of unexpected effort, not because of the depth of the UV fading, but mainly because so much of the creases, nooks and crannies had to be done by hand! They've come up well. A little final sanding with 500-grit and buffing and they'll be great. I may still go for a new front guard at some point though, as it does have a slit (which isn't readily visible - but I know it's there)!

update: DC Plastic now do a repro of the front and rear, but their yellow is too bright. An excellent fibreglass pair can now be had from classic_cyberglass (a regular on eBay).
