Faded plastics on these (after 26-odd years) is a problem.
The plastic side covers and headlight surround are particularly susceptable.. UV exposure really destroys the colouring in these. The NOS part from Suzuki now is a generic RM/PE item, with a great black racing spot. So let's see if I can save the existing side covers.

below: I started by sanding with 60/80 grit on a little 'mouse' orbital sander, to rip that hideous grey/white faded plastic off. You really have to be pretty brutal. The fading can go deep - and that dead plastic must be removed. WARNING Tons of plastic dust, so wear a mask! (or use wet & dry by hand, dipping regularly). The covers are now thinner, but still seem good. Now to start smoothing rather than cutting any more dead plastic.

below: The side-covers are proving to need a lot of work. I went to 240 grit and things are looking better, but they've taken a lot of effort and still don't look right. I shall persevere!

OK, I admit defeat. The original side-covers look *reasonable* but are too thin/floppy to really be happy with. I've sourced the NOS replacements and sanded off the black racing-spot. (They only come now with the black racing spot) These look and feel a heap better.
