Peakhurst
Swimming Club is affiliated with Swimming
New South Wales.
Peakhurst
Swimming Club has its weekly meets in the Peakhurst West
Primary School's Pool.
This
is a 25m indoor heated swimming pool with access from Ogilvy
St, Peakhurst. Off-street parking is available in the school
grounds.
Entrance
is via Ogilvy St South.

The
average age of our swimmers is in the 8-9 years age group
with ages ranging from about 4-21 years.
- Our
youngest swimmers compete in 15 metre events for freestyle,
backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
- We
also offer 30 metre medley events where either backstroke
or breaststroke is swum over the first 15 metres and freestyle
for the second 15 metres.

Traffic
restrictions
prevent right turn from Henry Lawson Drive
into Ogilvy St South.
Instead,
turn south
into Belmore Rd,
at the lights,
and go around
the block.
Parking
is permitted
in the school grounds
in designated areas.

- During
both seasons, Summer and Winter, Club swims are held on Saturday afternoons
commencing at 3:30pm.
The doors of the pool will open about 3:00pm.
Start time is 15 minutes earlier if 200m
or longer swims are scheduled.
It
is recommended that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the
scheduled start time. |

The
first meet of the month is our sprint meet (50m maximum distance),
where freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly styles
are swum.
Two
of these swims are nominated as Ribbon Events, where
all swimmers are seeded according to time and compete for
place ribbons. This is usually the 2nd and 3rd swim of the
day.
On
the other Club days, medley swims or longer distances are
offered.

relays are sometimes available. See Almanac.

STANDARDS
As
new swimmers cannot be expected to compete to the same level
of skill as more experienced swimmers, the Club's Guidelines
for Swimming at the Various Distances should help determine
which distance is appropriate for your child.
Use
the first two visits to Club to assess your child's interest
and ability before deciding to join.
The
Rules of Swimming, as published
by Swimming New South Wales, are the standard that the swimmers
should try to archieve.

VISITORS
- All
swimmers must be Registered Members of Swimming New South
Wales.
- New
prospective members are welcome to come along for
2 weeks and swim before deciding to join. When you join
the Club you also become registered with Swimming New South
Wales.
- Members
of other Clubs are welcome to join as Second Claim Members.
As a Second Claim Member, you retain your registration with
Swimming New South Wales.
- Visitors
from other Clubs, who are registered with Swimming NSW,
are welcome to attempt Qualifying Time Trials for
State and Metropolitan Meets. Please contact the Club beforehand
to ensure that the required Officials will be present.

INTER-CLUB
COMPETITION
The
Club runs various Meets throughout the year to encourage our
swimmers to participate at competition at inter-Club level.
- Our
major Summer competition is the
Junior Mini Meet for 9 Years and Under.

POINT
SCORE COMPETITION
A
Point Score competition enables swimmers to compete monthly
for the Swimmer of the Month Trophy. The top 5 boy
and girl point-scorers also receive medals.
At
the end of each season, the Top 10 boys and girls receive
awards, with the top boy and girl each receiving a special
award.

TRAINING
It
is recommended that children receive some form of training
through a coach so that they can use Club to improve their
skills at competitive swimming.
The
Referee may point out to the child any departures from the Rules as published by Swimming NSW for correction.

LIABILITY
INSURANCE ISSUES
All
swimmers must be registered members of Swimming New South
Wales.
The Club will permit non-members to try the Club for 2 swim
days before requiring membership.

CHAMPIONSHIPS
Club
Championships are held at the end of each season. Every child
is encourage to participate.
All
competitors in the Summer Championships receive a trophy. Subject to change by the Committee.
Children
competing in the Winter Championships receive an award. Subject to change by the Committee.
